Okay okay I’ll post this! I’ve gotten a lot of emails asking my “expert” opinion on Father’s Day golf gifts.  I’ve put together a small list of fun stuff you can get dad.  But if you are one of my offspring, don’t get them for me.  I already have them!

Bridgestone Golf Balls & Beer – About $10

Bridgestone Golf has a great Father’s Day combination box which includes Michelob Ultra beer and some Bridgestone Golf e6 golf balls.  In the link from the previous sentence, you can watch the video interview I conducted with my buddy Brandon from Bridgestone Golf, who explains what I affectionately call the “Free Beer” package.

Tattoo Golf Switchblade Divot Tool – $25

I can’t mention golf Father’s Day gifts without including one of my favorite companies, Tattoo Golf.  I really love using my Tattoo Golf switchblade divot tool.  The product is solid and works great, but of course the best part about it is the skull and golf club cross bones on the unit.

Kikkor Golf Tenny Clayburn Golf Tennies – $115

A very unique golf Father’s Day gift would be a pair of Kikkor Golf’s shoes.  My review of the Kikkor Golf Tenny Clayburns covers these cool treads. Kikkors are very comfortable, perform surprisingly well, and bridge the gap between Vans and golf shoes.

Book – 101 Winning Golf Tips – $12.95

If you want to help out dad with his golf game, gear may not be the answer.  Perhaps dad needs some tips on how to play the game.  Golfweek’s 101 Winning Golf Tips covers almost every type of golf shot a player may encounter on the course, and how to execute it.

Hexcaliber Golf Ball Compression Measurement Device – For the dad who you thought had every golf gadget there was – $150

Think your dad has every golf gadget ever made?  I’d be willing to bet he doesn’t have a Hexcaliber.  The Hexcaliber checks the roundness, size and compression of golf balls.  Now dad can see if the balls he fishes out of the lake on hole #7 are good or waterlogged.

Nike Machspeed Black Driver – $300

Money is no object for dad this year?  Then I’d look into picking pops up a new driver.  My Nike Machspeed Black Driver Review might influence your decision a bit.  With extremely light components, dad can swing this club faster and gain more yards.  With the completely adjustable club head, the club can be perfectly setup to match dad’s swing.

Frogger BrushPro – $19.95

I’m fairly sure I’ve included the Frogger Golf BrushPro in every Father’s Day gift guide I’ve posted.  The BrushPro is perhaps THE most used golf accessory I have.  I love this thing and it keeps my iron grooves nice and clean. I use the BrushPro before every iron shot.  It is part of my pre-shot routine!

Gentleman’s Vice – $26

I covered the Gentleman’s Vice last year before Father’s Day and this unit is still a very original pick for a gift for dad.  The Gentleman’s Vice is a combination cigar cutter and green repair tool with built in ball marker.  The unit is very solid and comes with a nice carrying case.

Bushnell neo+ Pocket Golf GPS – $145

I haven’t reviewed this unit yet, but I really like the Bushnell neo+ mini golf GPS.  No it isn’t a GPS for mini-golf, it is a miniature sized GPS for golf which fits easily in dad’s pocket or on his belt.

Loudmouth Golf Shorts

Summer is here and you want to stay cool and look cool.  I definitely look cool in my Loudmouth Golf Hot Dog (on a stick or with a stick) golf shorts.  They’re very comfortable and help keep me cool on the course, in more ways than one.

Golf… There isn’t a sport anywhere in our solar system which has more gadgets and accessories.  With Father’s Day coming up I thought I’d better mention the Belt Caddy by GolfTools as a possible Father’s Day Golf Gift.

The Belt Caddy is an accessory which attaches to the golfer’s belt and can hold two golf balls, two tees, the Belt Caddy divot tool (with included ball marker) and also has a velcro tab for attaching a golf glove.  The glove can air dry while hanging from the player’s belt.

On The Course

It is hard to go into a 2000 word description of a basic accessory like this.  That being said, I tried out the Belt Caddy and found it to work well and no problems with the functionality of the unit.  I don’t wear a glove so I didn’t utilize the glove tab.

Gentleman’s Vice

GentlemansViceWith Father’s Day coming up next month, and the festivities surrounding my pending wedding (and all the cigars which will be involved), I thought it would be a good time to do a piece on a very cool accessory called the Gentleman’s Vice.

The Gentleman’s Vice is a cigar/golf accessory which has many functions:

First it is a dual action cigar cutter.  You push a button and the double guillotine blades extend out. Put the stogey in the opening and close the guillotine for a perfect cut.

A 2nd button/slider extends a divot tool. A gentleman always fixes his ball mark and a few others.

After fixing a few ball marks, the player/gentleman marks his ball and pending birdie putt with a customizable ball marker.

Nothing ruins a fine cigar quicker than goose dung. While hitting shots the U-shaped top of the unit can hold a cigar to keep it off of the wet grass, keep it out of the chemically treated grass or most importantly, keep it away from goose dung. The unit also can serve as a club prop to keep the grips from contacting the wet grass and becoming slippery.

The Gentleman’s Vice has a mounting clip which allows mounting of the unit on your belt or your pocket for easy access.

Colors

The Gentleman’s Vice comes in five colors: Silver (pictured), copper, gold, black and gray.

Each GV comes with a nice carrying case, pictured left. The case can easily attach to a golf bag.

I have a gallery of images set up. Check out the Gentleman’s Vice Image Gallery.

Conclusion

I’ve used my Gentleman’s Vice many dozens of times and it would make a great Father’s Day golf gift. It is a perfect combination of a fun golf gadget and real life useful functionality. The thing is indestructible too, which is why it has a lifetime warranty. The Gentleman’s Vice is built like a Russian tank, only it gets much better gas mileage.

SUMI-G Dormy Belt

This is yet another of what are sure to be glowing reviews of a product by my new golf buddy Marius, the gray matter behind the new hip golf company called SUMI-G. Marius and I met at this year’s PGA Show and have become golf pals, with weekly grudge matches to determine who reigns supreme, at least for one week. For the first time in our playing history, we both played decent last week.  To this date all our battles have been pig fights.  Somehow this week the bugger Marius beat me out of $1.00 despite the fact that I beat him by one stroke.

SUMI-G Dormy Belt

Part of the SUMI-G “Tee Collection,” the Dormy belt is a very hip and stylish belt for golf or just everyday life, unless looking cool isn’t on your list.

The Dormy belt sports that new wider footprint we’re seeing in golf belts these days worn by many of the “in” golf crowd. The width is 1 5/8″ wide.  Note: if you are wearing some old school style golf pants or golf shorts from years ago, this belt may be too wide to fit through the loops. If you pick up one of these belts and it is too wide to fit through the belt loops, that’s a tell tale sign that the “hipness level” of your belt is beyond that of your pants. You’ll need upgrade your pants to match the quality and style of the belt!

The buckle is super stylish and shiny and features a unique double prong to latch it into the belt. Within the buckle is a magnetic SUMI-G ball marker. Using this marker during play is easy and is referred to “Sumigizing.” If you misplace the marker, the belt comes with two backups.

The leather of the belt is very soft. When I have strangers comment on the looks of the belt, I have them feel how soft the leather is. That looks a bit strange to passers by I must admit, but I feel a duty to spread the word on how nice and supple the belt is. It isn’t like a “biker” belt with the cheap hard Tijuana leather. This is Italian leather baby.

Conclusion

The Dormy Belt is yet another mega-stylish, elegant and useful product from my new favorite company SUMI-G.

Just a few minutes ago while sitting here in the San Diego airport withing for a flight, I had someone tell me how cool my belt was (I’m wearing the white one right now). This happens daily.

T-Bagg

Back in April Fox News was constantly talking about T-Bagging.  Comedians like Steven Colbert and John Stewart were having a hay day with it.   Funny thing was that Fox didn’t really know what that term meant to some people.  Yes, to us golfers it refers to a very cool golf accessory bag which holds golf tees and makes them easy to access. 😉

The T-Bagg is a fun and inexpensive stretchy mesh bag which hangs from your golf bag or your golf cart.  You put tees in there and stick the pointy end of the tee through the mesh.  When you need a tee you just pull it through the stretch mesh and it it pops out.  Simple.

I was skeptical at first but I’ve grown to really like having that bag handy rather than having a bunch of tees in my pocket poking me or poking holes in my pocket.

Critiques

The only critique I have, which I’ve suggested to my T-Bagg friends, is to change the top of the bag from velcro to magnetic.  I’m not a velcro fan because it wears out and gets shabby over time. With magnets sealing the top of the bag it will last much longer.  I do realize the price point of the T-Bagg at $7.95 retail may not be attainable with more expensive components and assembly if they went with magnets.

Conclusion

The T-Bagg won’t replace my having some tees in my pocket but it is a fun and handy golf gadget which I like.  My golf pals like it too.  I gave two extras to some golf pals and they both rave about them.

Great Father’s Day Golf Gift

Father’s day is coming up and the T-Bagg is a very inexpensive yet unique gift to give to that dad who golfs.  (Kids, don’t get me one since I already have one!).

T-Baggs are available at The Golf Space SHOP, or at the T-Bagg web site.

More T-Bagg pictures are here.
