LPGA Logo2012 LPGA Tour Schedule

The 2012 LPGA Tour schedule is set.  There are some new events and more prize money for 2012, which is good news.  This year there are five new events, four in the USA and the now famous (or infamous) “5th Major.”

I’ve set up a static page here on Hooked On Golf Blog which has the LPGA Tour Schedule for quick reference.  Click on the link in the previous sentence, or you can find it by going to the “Tours” menu on any HOG blog page and selecting “LPGA Tour Schedule” in the drop down menu.

Note to self: Must find a way to Bulgaria to golf at Thracian Cliffs

Heard from a golf buddy the other day, the story of a group of his friends who just got back from a fabulous golf trip to Bulgaria.  “Bulgaria?” I asked?  My pal sent me the YouTube video below of Thracian Cliffs Golf and Beach Resort.  I was instantly intrigued.

Gary Player designed the golf course at Thracian Cliffs.  The course sits on the west coast of the Black Sea.  Every hole has a view of the Black Sea and most of the holes are right on the cliffs overlooking the Black Sea.

Happy Birthday To my Pops. 75 big ones. If not for him, I would never know how infuriating a 3-putt is. Thanks a lot…

January 10 is the birthday of two excellent golfers.  One is Ian Poulter.  The other is one of my favorite golfers in the world, my dad.  Pops turned 75 today and still hits my old Titleist 983K driver damn near as far as I hit whatever driver I’m playing that week.  He’s a heck of a golfer and as a team we’ve paired up to win many tournaments.  We’ve also felt the pain of missing out on winning or placing in tournaments by one damn stroke…

My Dad and me in Goblin Valley, 2011

My dad is also a hell of a skier.  Check the video below from last year, when he was 74.  If I can move like that when I’m 74, I’ll be very satisfied.  Hell… I hope I can walk.

My dad introduced me to the two best outdoor activities there are, golf and skiing.  Sometimes I’m a little irritated that he introduced me to the beautifully irritating and fabulously frustating game of golf.

Hats off.  Tipping back a cold one in honor of my dad.  Cheers to you Pops.  See you on the slopes or the fairways…

Gear Head Alert!  Nike Golf has just announced their new Method Concept Putter, a new mid-mallet.  The shape of the putter is interesting to say the least and the weighting setup is even more intriguing.  The face is very light, weighing in at 90 grams while the black body weighs in at 200 grams.

The club will be available February 17th, 2012.  Retail price will be $199 for regular length and $229 for mid-length.

2012 Fantasy Golf Update

Hooked On Golf Blog Fantasy GolfThe inquiries are flowing in about 2012 fantasy golf.  Here’s the latest.

WHEN

HOG SPACE FANTASY GOLF BEGINS THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY.

WHERE?  OPINIONS NEEDED NOW!

I’m within hours of making a final decision as to what fantasy site to use for the league.  The host is narrowed down to two choices, Buzz or Kerplookeee.

We’ve used Kerplookee for two years now, with decent results.  There are some issues with Kerplookee, like when the league was down for two weeks or the teams not carrying over into the next week like they say they shoud.  That being said, it isn’t bad and by staying there all the people currently in the league wouldn’t have to sign up again.

The other option is Buzz fantasy golf.  Buzz has been “courting” HOG Space and their league software seems robust and has many customizable functions and options.

If you have a preference, this is your last chance to chime in.  Let me know where you’d like to do it.  I may end up simply flipping a coin.

NOW ACCEPTING SPONSORS FOR 2012

Anyone who has competed in HOG Space fantasy golf knows I give away great prizes from the biggest names in golf like Nike Golf, Bridgestone Golf, OGIO, FootJoy, Bobby Jones Golf, Nickluas Golf, Callaway Golf, Rife Putters, Tattoo Golf, Sumi-G, Frogger Golf, etc etc.  If you’d like to sponsor the 2012 league let me know.  The benefit of sponsoring is a TON of exposure here on HOG and on The Golf Space.  I’m talking millions of hits per month.

PRIZES

I usually nail down the prizes at the PGA Show and announce them by the opening of the season.

I’m considering dumping the weekly prizes for a couple of reasons. 1. Only about half of the winners claim their prizes.  2. They’re a pain in the rear end to ship.  Perhaps I’ll have them drop shipped or figure something different out.

COMMENTS?

If you have comments you may post them below, or even better, post in The Golf Space’s Fantasy Golf Discussion Forum area.
