I’m not a big book reader, haven’t been forever. When I start reading I get a few pages in and I get really tired and want to go to sleep. But recently after getting my eyes checked I found that I’ve probably been suffering from eye fatigue. Now that I have my new geek specs I can spend more time reading, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time but haven’t been able to.
For Christmas one of my very close golf pals gave me the book Golf in the Kingdom by Michael Murphy. This book has been around for decades and has sold over a million copies. Golf In The Kingdom is a fictional book related to the zen and mysticism of golf.
This book takes place in a place called “Burningbush Links” which essentially is the fictional representation of St. Andrews. The main character of the book “Michael” meets an odd golf pro named “Shivas Irons” who takes him on a mystical Zen golf journey on and off the course. I’m not going elaborate on the story. I’d just suggest you pick up a copy and check it out.
With my new specs and the great writing and flow of this book I finished this book in two sittings. That’s a world record for me. I like this book so much that it now holds the position of my 2nd favorite golf book. My favorite, which will probably never be dethroned, is Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book.

Hottest babes of the PGA Show.

Check the view counts of my show pics yet?
One thing I couldn’t help noticing at the PGA Show was the blatant and shameless way golf companies were selling their wares. Was it free candy in the booths? No. Free equipment? No.
Hot babes are clearly the way to sell golf gear, as adopted by Tour Edge, SKB, Hole In One USA, Green Friendly (our good friends) and many others. No complaints.
The numbers
If you go to my PGA Show photo gallery you may notice something funny. The photos in the gallery have a view count. It’s nice to see the most popular pics. Hitting page 4 of the gallery shows a few pics at 11-14 views exept for the last one. Pic #6 is at 38 views, 24 more views than the rest. What’s in that pic? Jessica, the very cute babe from Green Friendly Golf. Browse through some more pics and you’ll find views at 7 or 8 and maxing out at about 30 for golf clubs. Then you run into the two “booth babes” from Tour Edge and their view count is at 70. The #1 view count, and the most blatant of all booth babes is from the SKB booth (top pic). She’s at a view count of 80, roughly 8x the view count of the average booth or clubs.
Does it work?
Talking to a few pals at the show gave me a good guage on wether the babe angle was effective. All of my pals would tell me “Did you see that blonde over there? She was hot.” When I’d ask them what company she was working for NONE of them could remember. So my unscientific observation tells me that having hot babes in your booth attracts men to them and not your gear.
I think I’ve finally figured out the attraction I have to the new TaylorMade Buner driver:
What are the two greatest qualities a man can have?
1. Greek
2. Golf Blogger
There are two people I know who fit the bill: Myself and BogeyMan of BogeyLounge.tv. BogeyMan is not only a cool cat, he’s one of the original and best golf bloggers. BogeyMan also has many other “lounges” as part of his iLounge network.
Time for a cigar because BogeyMan is celebrating the birth of his first child, a beautiful daughter. Congratulations my friend.
It’s time to create some more lounges for BogeyMan now that he’s a father. Here are a few ideas:

Who I did meet
I managed to meet Dave Pelz in the press room. I really respect this guy and the research he’s put into golf, especially the short game. He’s got a definite passion for the game and his instructional pieces on The Golf Channel are great. I told him I have his Short Game Bible and he told me he hoped it helped. I then told him I hadn’t received an invitation to The Masters yet but there was always hope. This man is very tall by the way. I also didn’t have the nerve to tell him he had his sunglasses on indoors. But then again, the sun always shines when you’re cool.
Jennifer Mills smiled at me as I snapped her pic (see pic). Met a bunch of the other talking heads from The Golf Channel as well including Brian Hewit.
Open mouth. Insert foot.
I met LPGA player (38th on the money list last year) Diana D’Alessio. When I was first introduced to her I asked what she was doing at the show. She told me she was an LPGA player. I said “oh really? How many years have you been on tour?” she said, “eight.” Open mouth. Insert foot. I told her I had to apologize for not knowing that, but I followed the PGA Tour so much more than the LPGA. She was very cool and even gave me a nice hug; so nice in fact that it rocked my world that day. She’s a cutie and I’ll be following her a little more closely now (not stalking her though hehe).
Speaking of the LPGA Tour, I met Ashley from the Big Break. She was very cool, very pretty and very tall.
I talked with Jack Nicklaus’ chief club designer Clay Long for about 45 minutes. That was a blast. Clay was a really cool guy and gave me all sorts of insight on club design and working with Jack Nicklaus.
Who I didn’t meet at the 2007 PGA Show
Annika Sorenstam was supposedly at the show as was Jim Furyk. I didn’t catch either them. I’ve met Furyk before and he was pretty cool. I really wanted to meet Annika because I think she wants me but she doesn’t know it yet.
Jeanie Cho was at the show too but I unfortunately missed her.
