Round two of the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral is underway. Hunter Mahan continues to lead with great putting. Mahan is at -10 through 11 holes, three shots ahead of world #1 Martin Kaymer.

The big group of Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell and Tiger Woods is on the course playing their 2nd round. They had to finish their first round this morning. Tiger carded a -2 70 in round one while Phil shot a 73 and McDowell a 70.

Tiger Woods started out with a strange sequence of holes for round two, going birdie bogey birdie bogey bogey. As it sits right now through seven holes into round two, Mickelson is at +1, Woods at -1 and McDowell is at -1.

Somber mood here at HOG World Headquarters. Can’t seem to get excited about the golf today after the horrific news and continuing destruction from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Once again, HOG prayers and best wishes to those affected.

I’ve been sitting here in a daze, hypnotized by the footage of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.  The earthquake was a massive 8.9 on the Richter scale and hit in north-eastern Japan a little after 2PM local time.

The resulting tsunami has hit Japan, Hawaii and is headed for the west coast of the USA.

HOG best wishes to all of those affected by the earthquake and tsunami.  Stay safe.

Doral Weather Delay

Bad weather at Doral

Wow there’s a big storm hitting Doral right now.  Trees are blowing over and it is raining sideways.  Even the hospitality tents are close to flying away, as Graeme McDowell put it.  Play has been delayed an estimated three hours.

Quote of the day comes from Geoff Ogilvy:

“Here I am, having a wonderful morning, with a one foot putt for double on my first hole, and they blow the siren.”

Kelly Tilghman on the weather:

“Our towers at 8 and 9 have been blown away.”

Ian Poulter:

“There are tv towers in bunkers, the main scoreboard has blown over, the course will take a little while to get ready, hope we get out there.”

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Graeme McDowell have yet to tee off.

This is my first post from the new HOG World Headquarters.  The move isn’t close to done, but I have digital connectivity now, which is good.

The move is killing my back.  I’m hurting bad now.  Can’t really do anything right now but be a golf geek on the computer.
