CEP_Compression_Socks_2Here’s my first review for calendar year 2016, the CEP Compression Sock line.

CEP Compression is a sports brand of medi GmbH & Co. KG headquartered in Bayreuth, Germany. CEP’s products include various apparel items for a wide variety of sports like running, biking, soccer, triathlon, basketball, and of course golf.

Why Compression Socks?

If you’ve never tried compression socks you are missing out on some great performance enhancement as well as a great feel. The compression of these socks helps reduce muscle and bone fatigue, increases performance recovery, helps blood circulation and helps speed up lactate metabolism. Golfers need every edge they can get so why not take advantage of these properties?

Feel

I sport compression socks like the CEP socks quite often, even when I’m not on the course or doing anything athletic. The comfort and feel of compression socks is very hard to describe. I can feel a big difference during wear, and especially at the end of the day.

Models

I’ve been using two different sock models, the Dynamic+ no-show, and the Dynamic+ short socks. The no-show are basically ankle socks and the no-show (first photo above) are about halfway up the calf. The no-shows run around $18 and the short version runs around $22.  There are numerous other models depending on the sport/application, and for men or women.

Conclusion

I can’t claim that these socks have shaved any strokes off of my golf game, yet.  It’s winter and I haven’t played in a couple of months now.  From past experience using other compression socks I can say I’m looking forward to the refreshed feel and lack of fatigue when I finally do get back on the course.

CEP’s are well made and very comfortable.

First Golf Blog of 2016 – Happy New Year

Written by: Tony Korologos | Saturday, January 2nd, 2016

I got so sick of golf and golf blogging last year that I decided to shut it down until the next year.  It’s been a nice five day break since that last post of 2015.

Happy New Year.

I didn’t get to a lot of my regular end of the year posts in 2015. I didn’t do the 2016 HOG Turkey of the Year.  Didn’t do the products of the year.  A few factors have been involved in my slacking a bit.  One is that I’ve been struggling with my game, on the course and off.  That has hurt my motivation.  The other is the horrid back injury I got on the day before Thanksgiving.  It made doing anything tough.  For nearly four weeks I was in terrible pain.

I may or may not get to the Turkey of the Year.  My guess is it would/will be Robert Allenby for his escapades in strip clubs and being kidnapped or perhaps not kidnapped.  Then again, the camera man who knocked out Tiger Woods’s tooth is probably right up there.

Best products for 2015 are probably Bobby Jones or Dunning on the apparel side.  Bridgestone or Mizuno for their irons.  Perhaps Bushnell or Golf Buddy for their golf GPS’s and golf lasers.

Now is the time of year for me to evaluate 2015 and look forward to what I want to do in ’16, on and off the course and on this 11+ year old golf blog.  What did I do well?  What needs to be improved?  What should I bail on?  What new stuff should I try?

Boobs, Butts, and Bogeys – Back9Network is Back

With quality content like this it is hard to believe this "network" didn't survive...

Quality and class..

T&A alert! T&A alert! For you flyby web browsers who follow golf but love tits and ass even more, here’s some great news for you. Trash9Network is returning! Yes, the golf web’s version of the Bunny Ranch is going to be delivering Instagram photo galleries of the web’s hottest golf whores, for your enjoyment.

What? I’m being too crude? Perhaps I’ll use the en vogue term for publishing Instagram galleries of whores with golf clubs in their hands… “Golf Lifestyle.” There. Feel better?

Back9Network executives acknowledged in the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford their failure to launch a profitable television network. They’re now forming a “compelling online platform” of websites, a golf app and an email newsletter with 1.7 million subscribers, they said. Since its founding in 2010, it raised $32 million from more than 200 investors and about $6.2 million of unsecured debt from investors, Back9Network said. ~via the Hartford Courant

Huh? A “compelling online platform?” What does it compel one of their flyby, Instagram whore gallery next-button-clicking web visitors to do? Jerk off?

$32 million and they don't even know how to spell "caddie." Facepalm...

$32 million and they don’t even know how to spell “caddie.” Facepalm…

I really have to wonder what ANY of the investors, including the state of Connecticut, must have thought when seeing the content this “network” put together with their $32 million in investments. It must have been horrifying for the investors.

back9network_trash

Is this Penthouse or a golf website? Oh sorry, “golf lifestyle”

back9network_dufner

Amanda Dufner in a g-string. Doesn’t sell golf clubs or grow the game, but it generates clicks.

What’s more unbelievable is that more investors are putting money into this ship, which I thought sunk but somehow has temporarily floated back to the surface. Don’t they know Amanda Dufner, the old site’s primary draw, is gone? Talk about throwing good money after bad.

The fun part is we get to watch the dumpster fire reignited, at least until this last “private investment” runs out.

Anyone want to lend me $32 million?  I could do a hell of a job re-posting Instagram photos of hot chicks.  Hell, I’d do it for $32.00.

Thinking of Tattooing a Right-Handed Coal Miner Bubba Watson on My Calf

I’m not big on tattoos. If I ever get one I was considering getting a washed out boat anchor on my forearm. That way when I’m 80 years old it will still look the same.

I must admit I’ve recently been fantasizing about getting a tattoo of Bubba Watson on my calf, but not any old Bubba Watson though. It would be “right-handed coal miner” Bubba Watson. The “tat” (that’s what cool people call them) would feature Bubba wearing a PING hat. Of course we would have to hope he doesn’t change sponsors. Bubba’s face would be covered in coal marks and he would be wielding a right-handed driver.

Right Handed Coal Miner Bubba!

Right Handed Coal Miner Bubba!

Dammit I just found out someone already has the right handed coal miner Bubba Watson on their calf! See photo. What a bugger. Now I have to think of something else.

Golf Stock Photo Fail – Just Plain Absurd

Written by: Tony Korologos | Sunday, December 20th, 2015

This is the continuance of my brilliant series on boneheaded stock golf photos, Golf Stock Photo Fail.  This is part five in an ongoing series highlighting the idiotic golf photos commercially available out there on the interwebs.  How someone would pay actual money to use one of these is almost more mind boggling than the photos themselves.

Today’s title is “Just Plain Absurd.”  You’ll see why.

Jeff Spicoli putts a pink ball (Jordan Spieth style, not looking at the ball) on snow? “My father is a television repair man. He has an ultimate set of tools.”

“Hey lady. The hole is over here!”

“Tend the flag stick for me please. I can’t see the hole from 3.5 feet.” Also known as, a great woman’s ass is great advertising for men (heterosexual men of course)

Gigantic woman the size of the entire green lines up putt facing away from the green in the rough, with no shirt on. Makes sense.

I honestly can’t even come up with anything for this one. I have no words.

I pooped my skort!

I’ve long suspected that arab golfers tee up 3-woods on the putting green

Half-inch putts are best tapped in late in the day, with un-branded wedges which are rotated 90 degrees from the target line
