Savages Golf Blog just started last month. What I like about John Savage is the premise to his blog. He “loves golf mainly because it’s the last traditional sport, and wants to keep it that way.” Amen brother.
Hireko Golf is a club manufacturer who is using blogging to help promote themselves and get news and information out in a timely manner. Their blog is here: http://hirekogolf.wordpress.com/. I like that they use the web’s best best blogging software, wordpress. But they could use their own URL instead of a subdomain of wordpress.
The Nationwide Tour is in town for their yearly stop. That’s as close to the PGA Tour as we get around here with regards to professional golf.
They’re playing at a course called Willow Creek Country Club. I played Willow Creek for the first time about three weeks ago. What a nice course! I’m a 1.7 (yes it has gone up this season) handicap and I doubt I broke 80 my first 18 holes there (I played 27). There are many holes where course knowledge would have saved me a stroke or two though.
That being said I can see a huge difference between a 1.7 handicap and Nationwide Tour players. To be exact the difference is 17, strokes. Two players shot 63’s in their first rounds. I have free tickets so I’d like to go see the next Zach Johnson or Bubba Watson play but I’m busy so I doubt I’ll get up there.
I’ve gotten notice that people are getting their 2008 Masters practice round lottery notifications…. If I don’t get one soon in my mailbox I’ll be trying to talk myself off the ledge.
Sergio Garcia signed an incorrect score card and was disqualified from the 2007 PGA Championship. Boo Weekly was the one who was keeping score.
Last week at the Deutsche Bank Championship those two were paired up and sure enough, Weekly screwed up Sergio’s card again. This time Sergio caught it and corrected it before any damage was done.
So at this point you have to wonder if Boo is just messing with Sergio or is he really a bonehead?
There was a hint earlier this week that this might happen. Phil Mickelson IS NOT playing this week at the BMW championship. Another slap in the face for Tim Finchem and the FedEx Cup.
