Wow what a great Sunday… I mean MONDAY this week. Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods traded heavyweight punches in the ring and Phil finally broke through and beat Tiger with his final round 66.
Two weeks to go in the “playoffs” and here are the top 20 in the standings below. If Phil Mickelson can win this week at the BMW Championship, he’ll close out the $10,000,000 deal. But he may not win, since he still hasn’t decided if he’ll be playing.

PGA Tour players like Tiger Woods, Aaron Baddeley, Sergio Garcia, Camilo Villegas and Ian Poulter aren’t the only golfers who can dress in hip, stylish golf clothes. Now with the cool threads from S & J 18th Tee, juniors can look just as stylin’ on the golf course.
S & J makes many different color combinations of shirts and pants made from 100% knitted pique cotton or their new microfiber and dri-fit materials.
S & J’s mission
“S & J 18th Tee Inc. will provide affordable and quality junior clothing line while promoting an uplifting and enjoyable atmosphere.”
Color coded
A very cool thing S & J does for the younger players, is color coding their outfits. This way they player can easily tell if a pant/shirt combination matches. Hey I could use this for my adult golf clothes. I finally just went to black outfits to be sure they match!
Adjustable
S & J’s golf pants provide a highly needed flexibility due to the extreme variations which can be found in youngsters’ bodies. Some kids are very skinny and some are heavy. Each pair of S & J pants has an inner strap which provides an adjustable waist for all those varying sizes.
Magnetic ball marker
A cool feature S&J builds into their junior golf pants/shorts is a front flap with a magnet inside. The magnet provides an easy access place for a ball marker. No more fishing around in your pockets for that elusive marker.
Velcro secured pockets
To help prevent the junior player from losing score cards or having things fall out of their pockets, the pockets in the S&J pants/shorts are extra deep.

Critic’s corner
The only issue I’ve had with the S&J products is fitting them. Each shirt and pant is sized according to age. I found many of the cuts to be on the small side. For instance, for my 11 year old son I had to get sizes in the 14 or 16 range for him to feel comfortable.
Conclusion
When I saw S&J’s booth at the 2007 PGA Merchandise show I was very excited. I thought it was really cool to see a company dedicated to helping junior golf and helping the players look and feel good on the course.
S&J’s products are hip, cool looking, durable, thoughtful and well designed.

“Straight back and straight through.” These are words you often hear with regards to a “good” putting stroke. The Putt Right training aid helps teach you a straight back and straight through stroke.
How it works
The Putt Right is essentially a Bullseye (Brassmaster to be exact) type putter head with two holes in the face for the training rails to be inserted into. The rails give you a visual representation of the target line. More importantly for the Putt Right concept, the rails give you feedback and knock the ball off line if your putter face isn’t square.
Fine tune the rails
I wondered at first why the rails were bent at the end. I figured it was because the end of them may dig into the ground due to the angle of the face at the peak of the back swing. That may be. But the main reason is to give the player the ability to fine tune the opening between the rails.
The more grooved you get your putting stroke, the more you can bend the rails into a “closed” position where the opening is smaller. If you are able to keep the ball on line and prevent it from hitting the rails in the more closed positions, the better your putter is going straight back and straight through.
Right or left
Being a Bullseye style putter and since the holes for the rails go all the way through, a person could mount the rails on either side of the face. Therefore this putting aid can be for right or left handed players.

Bring it onto the course
Practiced enough with the rails? When you’re confident in your putting stroke, you can take out the rails and bring the putter onto the course.
Critic’s corner
You have to be of the belief that the “straight back and straight through” theory is the way to putt if you want to use this aid. Many great putters however, do not employ this theory. Ben Crenshaw, one of the greatest putters ever, does not have a straight back straight through stroke. Crenshaw and many other great putters employ the “swinging gate” style putting stroke, where your putter rotates like the a door on hinges. I tried the swinging gate stroke with the Putt Right and that’s a fun way of playing golf ball pinball.
Conclusion
It can be quite shocking to see how far off line or how far from square your putter face is when you try the Putt Right for the first time. If you have a hard time keeping your putter on the right line, the Putt Right may be a good tool for you to try.
