SHOTmaster is a 99 cent iPhone/iPod/iPad golf application which provides some good basic instruction and golf tips.  The application provides textual as well as video golf instruction for nearly every type of shot a player may encounter on the golf course.

From the main menu the user can access the shot category, video list and golf tips list. Some of the data overlaps between the selections.

When sleeting a shot from the main menu, like a 50 yard bunker shot, the next page displays text pointers and a supporting image, or may contain a link to view a video.

I ran into a guy in the Chicago airport this past Sunday who is a reader here on HOG.  Small world.  He told me about a piece of golf gear he bought because he’d read my review of it.  He said that this unit was a “piece of sh*t” and then went through the details of all the parts which had broken.  Then he told me about other products from the same company which he had issues with as well.  The company in question did make good by replacing all the broken parts.

A while back a guy I know tried out a golf brush which I reviewed.  Though my unit is solid and has been working perfectly for several years and 100’s of rounds of golf, his unit broke the first time he used it.  That was a simply a case of bad luck and that minute fraction of a percentage which may have a manufacturing problem.

I try to keep my reviews as reliable and accurate as possible.  If you have a different opinion or have different experiences with a product I’ve reviewed, I would love it if you posted your experience.  Post your opinion on the related article, which you should be able to find with the search function here.  You can be sure that the company who makes these products are keeping an eye out and listening to the buzz, and they’ll surely want to make things right if there’s a problem.

Today my Hooked On Golf Blog / The Golf Space YouTube channel went over the 3,000,000 view mark!  That isn’t bad for a golf based YouTube channel I suppose.  I mean, if I was posting Britney Spears crotch shot videos, silly kitty cat videos or Lady Gaga, those videos would probably hit 3mil in one day but this is golf!

Furky wins PGA Tour POY

Congratulations to Jim Furyk, winner of the PGA Tour player of the year.  Well done.  Bravo!  Bravo!  I predicted Jim would be the man a while back.  Isn’t it great that you can make predictions, but only brag when they’re right?

Kuchar wins Vardon and Palmer awards

My friends at Bridgestone Golf must be very excited.  Their man Matt Kuchar won the Vardon Trophy (for lowest scoring average on the PGA Tour) and also the Arnold Palmer Trophy (winning the most money at $4.1 million, on the PGA Tour).

Matt Kuchar must be feeling the mojo of having me stand three feet behind him at the Tuesday Masters practice round on #15.  That’s why he played so well from that point on.  He had HOG mojo.  I’ll take the credit.

Speaking of awards, give the Byron Nelson to Freddie Couples

Speaking of awards, another notch in Bridgestone’s cap is credited for Fred Couples, who won the Byron Nelson award.  That award is for the lowest scoring average on the Champions Tour. Freddie shattered the old scoring record of 68.58 by averaging an amazing 67.97.  It must have been the shoes.

Whenever there are emails floating around about Tiger Woods home they’re often tied to real estate entities of some sort.  I got an email from a guy named Jeff Lichtenstein which had this attachment of Tiger Woods house, with the new golf layout etc. Needless to say, this pad doesn’t suck.  Click the picture to view a larger version.

If you are considering playing this course, you might want to wait 2-3 weeks.  It looks like the greens have just been punched and sanded…

Jeff is with Christies / Great Estates and Illustrated properties and/or jeffrealty.com.  At the risk of posting a copyrighted photo without permission I’m mentioning his name, and here’s a link to an analysis of the property and the practice facility by Cary Lichtenstein.  I don’t know the relation but I’m sure there is one.
