Here is a follow up to my reviews of the Golden Horseshoe Gold and Green courses in Colonial Williamsburg. The Historic Area near the courses definitely deserves an individual mention.

Horse and buggy cruises down Duke of Gloucester Street

The Historic Area at Colonial Williamsburg has a wealth of historic buildings and museums to visit, each with very interesting stories to tell.

The area is a trip back in time to the 1700’s, where everything is as it was at that time. Walking the streets of the historical area is as close as a person could get to traveling back in time.

The buildings, the tools, the wardrobes of the townspeople, the plates… all authentic and original. If a building needs to be repaired or rebuilt, or some sort of work needs to be done, workers use the same tools and techniques which were used in the 1700’s.

Yesterday was the six year birthday blogday of A Walk In The Park. AWITP is the blog by my good blogging pal, and frequent golf partner Jay Flemma. Jay and I have played many killer courses around the USA.

Jay is very passionate about the game of golf, golf course design, as well as professional and amateur golf. He is not afraid to take on big and powerful entities in the golf world with his weapons of mass destruction, words.

Tiger breaks silence… on twitter

I could make up a lot of titles for this, but Tiger Woods has started tweeting on Twitter. I’d be interested to read Tiger’s tweets, provided they were about behind the scenes stuff and thoughts on tournaments etc, which weren’t covered in his pressers.

Elin Nordegren to auction off jewelery from Tiger Woods

Here’s your chance to get some fine jewelery from Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston and Cartier.

Reports are surfacing that Tiger’s former wife Elin Nordegren will be auctioning off her jewelery from Tiger through auctioneer Sotheby’s.

Proceeds of the expected $2.5 million take will go toward a mental health clinic Elin wishes to start, as well as to other charitable causes.

MyGolfSwing iPhone Application

Tempo is an extremely important part of a good golf swing. MyGolfSwing is a $1.99 iPhone application which helps golfers establish and groove their swing tempo.

The app breaks the swing down into three sections and times each one: back swing, pause at top of swing and downswing. Drills show video and play sounds so the player can see and hear the desired tempo while practicing.

There’s a fun feature in MGS which shows the tempos of great golfers like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Lorena Ochoa and others. Players can use those as templates in working on their own tempos. It is interesting how similar the pro tempos are. I’d like to see a few more in there like Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer.
