I have a cool new piece of art on my wall, sent in by my new buddy Gary Hartenhoff.  Gary does fine oil painting in the open air (plein I believe is what that is called).

The piece is called 17th par three hole of the Utah Canyon Golf Course.  It is part of a series Gary is going to be doing of golf courses in American national parks.

Gary must have known my favorite places in the world are the national parks here in Utah, like Arches National Park.  Gary’s hole is basically what it would look like if you put a golf hole in a Utah national park.  That’s two of my favorite things wrapped up into one cool image.

Just say “No” to the PGA Tour and FedEx Cup

Rory McIlroy has joined Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer in saying “no” to the PGA Tour and the FedEx Cup for 2011.

If you’re not playing well in the States it can be a lonely place. But if you’re not playing well on the European Tour you still have plenty of mates to hang out with.

The $10,000,000 FedEx Cup prize isn’t enough to entice these great players to play here full time.  They don’t like being forced to play in events they don’t want to play in, to be eligible for the Cup.

I wish I had enough dough in the bank and a good enough golf game to be able to say no like that…  Maybe in my next life.

Lady Classic Golf Gloves

I’ve been receiving a lot of women’s golf accessory submissions lately.  Though I can’t (or perhaps shouldn’t) wear them, I’ll still try to do my best to review them a bit and take some photos.  I’ll see if I can get some of them in the golf bags of lady golfers (or even lady golf bloggers) I know.

Lady Classic Golf Gloves

Lady Classic makes many different models of golf gloves for women. The unique qualities of these gloves is that they offer UV filtering to provide skin protection and a longer lasting suntan.  Since the gloves allow the hand to be tanned, ladies don’t have to walk around with a nice tan and a white hand which doesn’t match!  The SPF 10 gloves also provides cooling to keep the hands free of moisture.
