Bushnell neo+ golf GPS

Bushnell neo+ GPS – click for more images

My primary yardage device happens to be a Bushnell Tour V2 laser.  I’ve leaned on the laser side of yardage tracking because I like to point the cross hairs at stuff and see how far away it is, like the snack shack or the range ball picker.

But lately I’ve been really enjoying the simplicity and portability of my new Bushnell neo+ mini golf GPS.  This unit is small enough to fit in a pocket or mount onto a belt (via included belt mount) without getting in the way of comfort or the golf swing.

neo+ Features

NO FEES.  That is a biggie.  Many golf GPS devices require a setup fee, or a yearly fee or a fee fee.  I’ve taken other GPS devices to the course and excitedly powered them up on the 1st tee, only to find that I need to “subscribe” and/or pay some fee.  Quite a turn off, and that is what I ended up doing with those units, turning them off.

The Golf Chick

Fantastic! The Golf Chick wearing a killer HOG hat!

I’ve had a great digital golf blogging friend in the #1 female golf blogger Kristen Williams, a.k.a. The Golf Chick, for around six years.  We’ve emailed, tweeted, chatted, facebooked and exchanged in every other digital form of communication available to the golf sphere since the mid 2000’s.  I was happy to help her get her own site running back in the day. Glad to help her get her own URL and off of that cookie cutter yawner blogger platform years ago.

Finally at the 2011 Mesquite Amateur tournament Kristen and I met in person, late Sunday after I rolled in from Texas and the Byron Nelson. I was so hammered from covering the Byron and I should have gotten some sleep, but we had way too much catching up to do.  We had mega fun chatting it up at the Casablanca bar, enjoying the lounge band and watching the locals getting themselves kicked out of the place for humping on the dance floor and slapping each other’s bare asses.  It doesn’t get much better than that.

Kristen is one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet and down right fun. It was so cool to hang with her at the Mesquite Am. Unfortunately I had to take off early unexpectedly. Damn, Kristen and I didn’t even get a photo together.  But if we did, I might have to stand on a phone book.

You can check out Kristen’s Mesquite Am wrap up part 1 here. Very kind words and I too consider Kristen a great friend, sniff sniff.

Mushy Moment

People always ask me what the best part of running a popular golf blog is. Is it the gear, the golf, going to tour events?  Sure those things are cool, but the people I get to meet and the friendships I’ve gained, like Kristen’s, are by far the best part of golf blogging.  Wouldn’t trade that for anything.

In addition to the Conestoga images I just uploaded, I’ve updated the HOG Oasis Palmer Course image gallery.  The Oasis Palmer course is a great course in Mesquite, Nevada designed of course by Arnold Palmer.

I’m still processing photos from the big two week HOG World Tour leg at the end of last month.  I’ve just uploaded 137 pictures from my round at the very cool new Conestoga Golf Club in Mesquite, Nevada.
