I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Rocco Mediate a few times. Every time we’ve met, Rocco has been nothing but cool to me. Because of that, I’m a Rocco fan.
Today is Rocco’s birthday, so very happy HOG wishes to my buddy Rocco Mediate.
Just read a piece in the USA Today (not that I read that publication much) which talked about Callaway’s new direction in marketing. They’ve brought on a new agency (Factory Design Labs) and also Justin Timberlake to consult with them.
“Looking to pump up sales and promote its two new products for 2012— the RAZR Fit driver and the Hex Black Tour golf ball — Callaway Golf is pumping up the volume in a game long known for its tranquility. Callaway hired marketing agency Factory Design Labs, who came up with the concept to take golf to a place it has never been – the neon-induced, over-the-top, volume-busting Las Vegas Strip. Factory Design then got in touch with Kahn and Justin Timberlake, the multiple Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actor, musician and avid golfer, to collaborate on a campaign that is as unique as it is eye-catching.”
The result is a campaign which is going to start toward the end of January which features Phil Mickelson and other Callaway players hitting shots on the Las Vegas strip with volcanoes erupting and pyrotechnics exploding. Sounds fun. I’d like to try that. I’m not really a Justin Timberlake fan so I guess I’m not the demographic they’re going for, even though my demographic is the one with the money to spend.
It will be interesting to see what they do and how successful the campaign is.
The awards keep rolling in for Luke Donald. He has now won the European Tour’s “Golfer of the Year.”
No word yet, but it is expected that Donald will also win player of the year awards on the Sunshine Tour, Hooters Tour, Korean Tour, OneAsia Tour, Omega China Tour, Nordic League, Legends Tour, LPGA of Japan Tour, Fuzion Minor League Golf Tour, Apls Tour, Asian Tour, Golden Bear Tour as well as the Tour de las Américas and about 14 others.
Welcome to the 3rd installment of my 2011 PING Scottsdale putter review series. To date I’ve covered the PING Scottsdale Shea and the Scottsdale Senita putters, as well as the related iPING putter App. Today’s putter is the new PING Scottsdale ZB S Putter.
PING Scottsdale ZB S Putter Overview
The new ZB S is a conventional blade putter with a simple and clean design. The putter has a dark matte finish on the top and a black shiny chrome finish on the bottom, as do the other Scottsdale putter models. The look is very sharp and the matte finish prevents glare. (more…)
With two victories, one a major championship (2011 PGA Championship), Keegan Bradley was a lock for PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
Keegan’s first win of his PGA Tour career was at the Byron Nelson, and I’m happy to say I was right there when he won it. In fact, I shot the picture above.
Keegan has an energy to him. When you are around him, you can feel it.
