First Look: Arcade Belts

When I’m not golfing, I’m either skiing or hiking.  I live in an awesome place (Utah) for sure.  Shhh.  Don’t tell anyone though. It’s getting too crowded. Since I had the shoulder surgery, I’ve been only hiking and skiing but I’m looking forward to playing golf soon.

In the hiking/skiing world I’m going to be opening a new website, similar to this one.  It will be dedicated to going up and down mountains, and all that comes with it. One of the products I’ve had my eyes on in that world is Arcade Belts.

Arcade Belts are made for outdoor activities. The belts are made to stretch and move with the movements of the person wearing them. I think they’re a great crossover for golf, as we golfers end to make quite a bit of movement during the golf swing, and walking the course.  I’ve been sporting these three belts which were sent in for review by Arcade. I loved the belts so much I bought two other ones.

These belts are coming in very handy at the moment.  During the course of this year I’ve bumped up my physical training for the upcoming ski season, and for my general health.  I was carrying some extra weight.  This year I’ve dropped about 35 pounds.  Wooo!  The problem is that now none of my pants or shorts fit me.  They all fall off.  Thanks to the flexible nature of Arcade Belts, I can milk some more wear out of these pants/shorts, without sacrificing comfort.

I’ll be posting a review soon, so stay tuned.  And watch out for my new site coming soon.  It’s called Hike.Ski, and that’s the URL:

New Custom NXT18 Belt – College Football Style

I have to admit that now that college football season is here I’ve been spending a lot of time working on one of my other websites, I’m a University of Utah Utes fan and built that site as a forum and fan “hub,” and it has been quite successful. I built a game there to allow the members to pick the weekly Pac-12 football games, called Pick Em. I have some neat prizes, and the grand prize is a custom belt from NXT18 Golf. Check it out.

I reviewed a milled belt by NXT18 Golf back in 2015. It’s a Hooked on Golf Blog version.

The new college version is a little more mature and cleaner looking I must admit.  Plus it works with a standard belt, which is interchangeable.

My new Utah Utes belt is great. I’m wearing it proudly, even this moment. If you want a belt like this, or with your own custom logo of your favorite team or golf blog, follow this special link for a discount and free shipping.

The latest belt script I’ve been proudly featuring is a very cool and unique custom milled Hooked on Golf Blog belt from NXT18 Golf Belts. Let’s take a look.

Custom Milling

NXT18 Golf custom mills the buckles out of a block of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum. And we are not talking about milling in China either. These are done in Massachusetts.

While one could simply purchase the original artwork of the NXT18 belts, custom artwork is where it is at. Just look at the beauty of the HOG logo and you’ll see what I mean.

Hand Painting

The milling effect alone makes most artwork look very cool. Add that to the different color/paint possibilities and the buckles look out of this world awesome. The buckles are hand painted, adding to the fine attention to detail and quality of the product.

Tension Lock

The belt tightens through a tension lock system. In the HOG photo above you can see left of the H a loop in the belt which is where it is tightened. This is cool because the tightness of the belt can be perfectly set to the wearer’s preference and comfort level. Belts which have holes and pins to lock them seem to never have the right setting for me, they’re either too tight or too loose. With the tension lock system one can loosen the belt up a little for comfort while sitting in the office after a large lunch which includes an Italian Stromboli. Trust me on that one.

Webbing Belt

The belts themselves are a nylon webbing material which is very strong and light. These belts come in about 13 colors/designs. I chose black, being a former rock & roll musician. If they had skulls, I’d be all over it like John Daly over a cigarette.

There are a large number of colors available for the bucles, somewhere around 10-15 is my guess.

Since the belt is a tension system, sizing is easy. You just let them know your waist size and they’ll hook you up with the proper length, which is once again, completely adjustable.

My only critique and suggestion for this belt is for NXT18 to consider a different system than the Tension Lock. While it is cool, the system results in the buckle not sitting on the wearer’s body very flat. The tightening side sticks out farther than the other side (photo below).

A different system with the lock on the back of the buckle would solve that issue, and also free up about another inch of space for artwork/milling.

Love my custom milled aluminum HOG belt. I wear it proudly and love the quality and uniqueness it showcases, thanks to NXT18 Golf Belts!

These NXT18GOLF belt buckles are made from 6061 aircraft grade aluminum, individually milled and crafted, as well as hand-painted for each customer. 100% crafted in Massachusetts USA.

I just got the buckle/belt yesterday and will definitely put it through the rigorous HOG review battery, but on first impressions I really dig it.  If you can’t wait to make your own design and have one made before I post my full review, hit and get it going.  It’s super easy.  Send them a logo, a few bucks, and a few days later you have an awesome custom belt.

Beltology Silver Spoon Belt Review

Belt reviews can be tough.  One must be willing to ask the hard-hitting question, “will my pants fall down?”

Fortunately in the case of the Beltology “Silver Spoon” belt, it has done its job well.  I’ve managed to keep my pants on.

Beltology’s $60 Silver Spoon belt is a weaved waxed cotton fabric belt which comes in the color combination navy/white/red.  The trim where the buckle is attached is full grain brown leather while the buckle is polished nickel.

The belt is very comfortable and flexible.  The mesh pattern serves as a sort of elastic.  The elasticity of the belt allows for great movement and comfort in the golf swing and during other times a non flexible belt can cause discomfort, like bending over to tee up the ball or pick the ball up out of the hole after a birdie putt.

Sizes vary for the Silver Spoon from 30 to 40 inch waists.

Speaking of waist size, the way the fork in the buckle goes through the belt allows the wearer to fine tune the fit.  Unlike belts which have preset holes, you can tighten exactly to the desired length.

The Beltology Silver Spoon is unique looking and original.  The fit is great and the flexibility keeps the belt from being a negative factor in the golf swing.  Best of all, it does its job.

Consider this belt as a Father’s Day golf gift, golf birthday gift, or golf Christmas gift!
