Ian Poulter had his driver stolen in Shanghai. Unable to get a suitable replacement, he decided not to risk world ranking points by playing a different driver in the Singapore Open.
“I am really gutted. I have been thinking about it for four hours and I have decided to withdraw because my new driver will not arrive on time. It is disappointing because I did not come all this way not to play. But with so many world ranking points at stake, if I played badly I may have lost ground.”
The seven P’s
My dad has always lectured me about the “seven p’s”… “Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.”
With all the money at stake and all the dough someone like Poulter has, you’d think he’d have a backup of each club with him on the road?
One ritual many golfers enjoy is marking their balls. I have several friends/opponents who have unique markings in specific colors which help to identify their golf balls. Most players have a “Sharpie” in their bag to mark their golf balls and most pro shops carry them. I’m introducing a great Sharpie alternative called IDenti-pen.
IDentipen
IDentipens are permanent markers which are waterproof. They can be used for marking just about anything from golf balls to CDs to autographs.
PGA Tour Partners Club Approved
The IDentipen has been tested by over 2500 golfers and has the seal of approval from the PGA Tour Partners Club.
Dual
I really like my IDentipens because of not only how great they work, but the fact that they have dual points.
There’s a “fine” end and an “extra fine” end for more detailed writing.
Options
The IDentipen comes in three different packs: Single, four pack and eight pack. The eight pack has all the colors available while the four has the most used black, blue, red and green.
My pal was disappointed in me when I told him I’d become a member of the golf laser rangefinder owner’s club. While I agree there are some “old school” reasons for not using a GPS or a laser rangefinder, I prefer to have an exact yardage from wherever I am without having to walk all over the course looking for markers. I do think this speeds up play and helps my game.
Bushnell Tour V2
With all my connections, and all the prize money I have at a couple of clubs, I could have chosen just about any golf yardage device. I chose the Bushnell Tour V2 for one simple reason, or should I say one number.
I’m getting ready to either change the name of Hooked On Golf Blog to Hooked On Food Blog, or start a whole new blog dedicated to food. Since introducing the “lifestyle” section here, I’ve been swamped with some incredible culinary products. Wait a minute… forget all of that. I should start up Hooked On Hot Babes Blog… I digress.
Bachelor alert
Are you a bachelor or just a crappy cook who thinks macaroni and cheese is gourmet? Is Top Ramen considered the 7th food group? Read on.
Hitching Post Products has a very cool product/service. They make complete high quality meals or individual food dishes which they ship to you. All you have to do in order to prepare them is boil water. I realize boiling water may be difficult, but if I figured it out so can you. The meat items are open flame BBQ’d over a red oak fire pit and seasoned. Woa.
Last night I was in full on bachelor mode. I looked at the case of Top Ramen I bought at Costco and thought…nope. I thought of making a PB&J, but that wasn’t’ going to go with the merlot I was enjoying. Frosted Flakes don’t go well with merlots either…. Then I remembered I had a steak dinner in my freezer. This was my chance to test out the stuff the Hitching Post sent me.
New York steak & garlic bread, preparation in 15-20 minutes
Not much golf blogging today for me. I’m recovering from the intense game last night where my Utah Utes beat TCU 13-10 in the last seconds of the game. What an incredible victory to improve to 10-0 and on track to another BCS busting season.
Last night’s game was a “black out” which meant all the fans were to wear black:
