Slammin' Sam Snead Premium Lager

Bottle or can, the flavor is just as good…

The latest tests in “HOG Lab” were very tough.  HOG Lab tests are very thorough.  I go through every possible situation, setting, configuration.  I put the products through extensive and detailed testing, in real world situations.

Can

At 5:01PM Wednesday I cracked open the first test unit, a can of Slammin’ Sam Snead Premium Lager, the self proclaimed “Smoothest Beer In Golf.”   I don’t typically drink my beer straight out of the can or bottle.  I really enjoy them when I pour ’em in to a frozen glass or mug.  That’s just what I did in this test.

The color of this beer is a nice orange/yellow.  Definitely a lager.  I expected the beer to be on the light side based on the light color, but the body was quite surprising.  Not overpowering though.  The head of the beer was on par with more premium beers I’ve tried.  I really enjoyed the taste, and found myself able to consume this beer much quicker and easier than I typically can.  I’m not a gulper.  I sip beer typically.  Perhaps the beer really is that smooth if I can down it quicker than normal.

Slammin' Sam Premium Lager

Pretty… Tastes as good as it looks too.

Bottle

I gave my palette a break for about 30 minutes between my testing of the canned and bottled version.  Once again, I poured the beer into a frozen beer glass.  Normally I enjoy beer from bottles better than cans.  In this case however, I couldn’t tell one bit of difference between the bottle and the can version.  Both had the same great body and smooth taste.

Yes, but can it help your golf game?

The following morning after I tested the two Slammin’ Sam beers, I played 18 holes in my usual weekly grudge match.  I hit 13 of 14 fairways, for 93%, had two birdies and an eagle.   The results speak for themselves.

Conclusion

Slammin’ Sam Snead Premium Lager is a fine brew.  Very tasty and enjoyable.   Do you swing as smooth as Sam Snead after enjoying this beer?  I did.  Now I need to get Slammin’ Sam to send me a lifetime supply so I can assure the same results on all of my golf rounds…

Tougher Conditions Friday At PGA Championship

PGA.com has live streaming of the PGA Championship in the mornings before the network TV coverage starts.  It is pretty nice to watch, with a few commercials.  The one thing which bugs me is their pop up voting console which I can’t set to stop popping up.  They want you to vote on every hole, things like who will hit the longest drive etc.  I don’t care about that.  Just want to watch golf.

The conditions today (Friday) at the 2012 PGA Championship are much tougher than yesterday with much more wind and possible rain.  -6 was the low score in round one, but I’m betting we won’t see close to that after today.  Will those players who played in the benign morning conditions and scored well, like John Daly, back up in the afternoon?

PGA Championship TV Schedule – DVR Alert – Expanded Coverage

Written by: Tony Korologos | Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

This isn’t your normal HOG DVR alert.  The PGA Championship is this week.  This is “Glory’s Last Shot” and our last chance at watching major championship golf for 2012, even though we have the FedEx Cup playoffs and Ryder Cup to enjoy later.

DirecTV has made arrangements with TNT and CBS Sports to provide their “expanded” live coverage of the PGA Championship.  The main channel channel is 701.  This expanded coverage is accessed by hitting the red button on the remote.  After that magic button is pushed, a main window pops up with info and available feeds.  From there one can select the main TV feed (channel 702), the marquee group (channel 703), featured hole (channel 704)  and players in depth (channel 705).  There’s also a leaderboard on the main expanded coverage page.

This is very slick and makes me glad I have DirecTV.  That said I’m not getting paid by DirecTV and they didn’t ask me to mention any of this. I’m actually PO’d that I will not be able to get the Pac-12 football coverage on DirecTV (unless something has changed recently).  So as happy I am about the extended golf coverage, I’m not happy I can’t watch my Utah Utes.  But I digress.  Back to golf.

Below is the regular network TV PGA Championship schedule:

Thu, August 9 TNT 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
Fri, August 10 TNT 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
Sat, August 11 TNT 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM EDT
Sat, August 11 CBS 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT
Sun, August 12 TNT 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM EDT
Sun, August 12 CBS 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM EDT

First Look: Slammin’ Sam Snead Premium Lager – Smoothest Beer In Golf

Slammin' Sam Premium Lager

Is Slammin’ Sam’s beer as smooth as Sam Snead’s golf swing? Testing to commence shortly. Stay tuned…

Filed under “being a golf blogger does not suck.”

I’ve received some of the most interesting, and bizarre product review submissions imaginable.  Everything from BBQ sauce to complex golf training devices with lasers on them.  Two days ago I received perhaps the pinnacle of product submissions, BEER.  What’s next?  Babes, guitars and a fast car…

Slammin’ Sam Premium Lager

I’ve had these babies in the fridge cooling now for about 48 hours.  This evening I’ll be doing the first product testing.  I’ve got mugs in the freezer ready to go.  Its a tough gig.  Tough duty.  I’m up for the task.

Stay tuned for my upcoming Slammin’ Sam Premium Lager review…
