Street casual golf shoes are the rage.  I knew comfort wasn’t in question but I’ve wondered if this type of golf shoe could provide enough performance and stability in the golf swing for serious players.  Now I know.  Lets take a look at the 2012 Cardiffs and see what the buzz is all about, and if they can provide my spastic swing a solid base.

Ashworth Cardiff Golf Shoes

Cardiff Overview

The Cardiff is designed to cross-over from the golf course to the office to a night on the town.  No need to change shoes.

The shoe is composed of a premium leather upper on top of a rubber spike-less outsole.

The leather is waterproof, with a two year waterproof warranty.

Nike VR_S Driver

With one week to go until Father’s Day I figured this would be a great time to post my Nike VR_S Driver review.  I’ve been doing my on-the-course research for this piece for quite a while.  I’ve had this driver in my gamer bag almost all season.

Nike VR_S Driver Overview

The $359.00 (retail) VR_S Driver is a 460cc driver with an adjustable hosel.  The driver’s “NexCOR” face technology helps produce more “speed” and as a result more distance.  I’ll discuss the features in detail below.

NexCOR

As I covered in my Nike VR_S Hybrid review, NexCOR is a variable face thickness technology.  Unlike one would think, the face is thicker in the middle and thinner around the edges. (more…)

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson paired at U.S. Open. Bring Your Camera Phones And Yell “Get In The Hole!”

U.S. OPEN 2012 Olympic ClubThe U.S. Open is next week.  Be sure to join the HOG Major Challenge Fantasy League for a shot a free golf prizes and fun.

They’ve done some interesting pairings for the first two rounds of the Open, namely the big pairing of Mickelson, Woods and Bubba Watson.  The gallery for that pairing will be INSANE.  Strangely, the group will be teeing off on the NINTH tee at 7:33 a.m. PDT in the first round.  Yes you read right, the ninth tee.  The next day they tee off on the first tee at 1:18 p.m.  For logistical reasons they’re starting groups off the ninth because it is closer to the clubhouse.

Phones Prohibited

After the stink at the Memorial where Phil withdrew and Bubba missed the cut there was a lot of talk from the players about how obnoxious the camera phones had been in the gallery.  There are no worries for that at the U.S. Open because this is not a PGA Tour event.  This is a USGA event and cell phones/cameras are not allowed for the spectators.

Predictions?

Have any predictions for the pairing?  Who will shoot the lowest score?  Who will complain the most?

Review: Pro-Advanced ReadyNet Indoor/Outdoor Golf Practice Net

Written by: Tony Korologos | Thursday, June 7th, 2012

I’m so happy to have one of these awesome golf practice nets finally! Now I can hit some balls and stay loose without having to drive x miles to a driving range and pay for crappy range balls. I can hit the soft cover premium “tour” golf balls I like to hit which don’t aggravate my golfer’s elbow. My net is the ReadyNet from Pro-Advanced.

ReadyNet Features

  • The ReadyNet is constructed with a flexible steel frame surrounded by nylon double netting.
  • Net height is 6 feet high by 9 feet wide at the base.
  • The setup of the net provides an automatic ball return on smooth surfaces.  The golf balls roll back to your hitting area.
  • Outdoor setup (wish spikes to secure net in wind) now takes me less than 30 seconds.  Indoor setup is literally about FIVE seconds.
  • Tear down is easy.  I’ve got it down to less than 20 seconds.
  • When not in use the net has a durable carrying case made from a tough canvas like material.
  • The thin frame and light materials make transporting the unit easy.

Colors

The ReadyNet comes in one color scheme, red and black as pictured. (more…)
