My golf blogging pal GolfBlogger has celebrated his SIXTH birthday! Six years of golf blogging is like me lasting 30 seconds in the Playboy Mansion (more to come on that one soon).
GolfBlogger has written over 4000 golf blogs, as compared to my measly 2000. On my behalf though, my posts are typically longer. GolfBlogger is always up on the latest and greatest from the golf gear world so be sure to stop by there on a regular basis.
Great GolfBlogger quote
GolfBlogger’s longevity is impressive. As he points out in the quote below, many people start golf blogs and put very little time and effort into them, leaving them to die:
I’ve managed to avoid the fate of thousands of others who have started a golf blog—that of writing a few pieces and then losing interest. The internet is littered with the corpses of abandoned golf blogs.
Keep it up my friend. I’ll be right behind you.
Perhaps I’m a bit grouchy because I’m on the rag. Perhaps I’m grouchy because it has been snowing hard, for about two weeks straight and the only golf I’ve played I froze my ass off. Whatever the reason, my posts right now have a bit of an edge to them. I kind of like it.
I first mentioned a situation with GolfNow.com, or what I prefer to call them, “MaybeGolfSometimePossiblyIfWeGetAroundToIt.com,” back on March 4th.
My friend Dave had told me how he was happy with his commissions he was making as a result of having one of their ads on his golf blog. I thought I’d give it a shot since I need to recoup some of my operating costs.
I signed up for the GolfNow.com affiliate program back on February 2nd. Rather than typing it all again for you, just click here for the details of what transpired at that time, and over the next MONTH.
In short, it has now been over TWO MONTHS since I signed up for the program and have yet to receive any kind of communication regarding whether I’ve been approved or not. This is why I now call GolfNow.com “MaybeGolfSometimePossiblyIfWeGetAroundToIt.com.”
If they’re so unorganized or simply flaky about signing up affiliates, how can one expect them to handle their bookings well? Even more worrisome, how would they how handle paying me the correct amount and in a timely fashion?
Let’s see how long this goes. I’ll post an update after the 2nd of each month, the anniversary of my applying for the program.
TaylorMade has been busy. They signed Greg Norman earlier this week and now Rory “MoMoney” Sabbatini. Rory will play TaylorMade equipment and sport their head wear.
TaylorMade’s web site is nauseating
I just realized why I stopped going to TaylorMade’s web site. I thought I’d stop by there this morning to see if I could get some details on this endorsement deal. Then my morning was ground to a halt when all the fancy Adobe Flash “things” hit my screen and I had to wait for them to finish spinning around and making sound effects.
The flash work is really impressive, but I can’t stand it. Please give me a simple, fast loading web page which I can find what I’m looking for quickly. No more “loading…” or “skip intro” type of stuff. Where do I look for details about this endorsement deal when inside “the clubhouse?” Oh, wait I found it I think. Perhaps on the “lower level” in the “locker room”? Never mind, I got the “loading…” again. Adios.
A note to people who are considering making a web site or redesigning one:
The fancy Adobe Flash animations, sound effects, and things flying around your screen are only cool for two people…
1. The person who hired the Flash designer.
2. The Flash designer.
