I play Golf Pride grips. 80% of the PGA TOUR follows my lead, despite not getting paid by Golf Pride. That’s the sign of a really great product.  I love the Align technology for my full swing clubs, and for my putter I game the TOUR SNSR.

I haven’t been one for doing a lot of contests and giveaways in the past, but I thought I’d change that up a bit and do a giveaway in honor of the 2019 Masters Tournament.  I worked out a gift package with Golf Pride featuring 13 Limited Edition “First Major” MCC ALIGN Grips and the t-shirt pictured below.

The grips and shirt in this package are not available for sale, anywhere. Only a few select Tour players have them, and of course the soon-to-be winner of the 2019 HOG/Golf Pride “First Major” contest.

HOW TO PLAY

I can’t just give these incredible grips and t-shirt away to anyone. I need to make the winner work for it. Here’s how to win them:

  1. On Twitter, make sure you follow @HOGGOLFBLOG and @golfpridegrips
  2. Retweet any HOG “First Major” contest tweet with your pick for the Masters winner. The player must be a Golf Pride user.

The winner will be announced the day after the Masters Tournament concludes.  In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen at random.

Happy tweeting and GOOD LUCK!

I’m completely spent. What a fantastic Masters Tournament, again. I’m sad that the tournament is over, but already looking forward 361 days to the next one!

Congrats to Patrick Reed.

Today is is par-3 day at The Masters Tournament.  On the Wednesday of Masters week there is a tournament at the Augusta National par-3 course.  This tournament has been going since 1960.  The par-3 is a fun tournament where players interact closely with fans.  Some players who are not in the Masters Tournament are allowed to play the par-3 tournament.   Prior to the par-3 tournament there used to be a driving contest.

The par-3 tournament takes place at Augusta National’s par-3 course, possibly the most beautiful par-3 course in the world, though the folks at Three Tops located at Treetops Resort might argue that point.  As you will likely hear, no player who has won the par-3 contest has gone on to win the Masters Tournament.

Did you know there’s a boat on the grounds of Augusta National? I found one!

I walked every hole of Augusta National’s par-3 course one of the last times I was at the Masters, and shot a ton of photos.  For one shot I even snuck onto a little boat I found in the lake.  The skies were a little gray the day I shot them but the course still looks great.  I put together a gallery of 77 images of the course, the largest and most complete online photo gallery of the course that I’m aware of.  All for you HOG “patrons.”  Click the photos or the link below to view the gallery.

Hooked on Golf Blog Exclusive: Dustin Johnson 2018 Masters Sock Scripting

Dustin Johnson came into the 2017 Masters Tournament last year having won four tournaments and cemented himself as the #1 golfer in the world.  But a slip and fall in the rental home he was staying in crushed the thought of parlaying that momentum into a Masters win.  Clearly his sock scripting failed him, a crucial mistake made by his apparel scripting team.  Hooked on Golf Blog is the first to debut the hard work DJ’s apparel scripting team did to prepare for the 2018 Masters Tournament, and insure no more slip and fall accidents during Masters week.

Yes sir! This sock scripting is Nailed (with a capital N).  We won’t see DJ withdrawing on the #1 tee this Thursday if the sock scripting has anything to do with it. The touch of championship red for Sunday, even though those are children’s socks, is perfect.
