Dollar Shave Club, Harry’s, Birch Box, Trunk Club, Lootcrate… the monthly goodie box for men concept is pretty hot right now. But why get overpriced razors every month when you could get something really fun and useful, like golf balls and accessories? That’s where iGC Box comes in. Let’s take a look inside the box.
iGC Box
Inside my iGC Box are some nice golf goodies. See below.
First and foremost is a half dozen high quality, urethane covered 3-piece balls. That’s the same recipe one would find in “Tour” quality golf balls which can run $50-$60/dozen. I have NO desire to get a monthly subscription if the balls inside are “RockFlite” quality. The balls come inside a useful accessory bag which is great for the other small golf items one loses inside a big golf bag.
Along with the balls my box had some nice, long plastic tees. I tee it high, so these are perfect for me. Plus they’re much more durable than wood tees.
A nice full leather golf glove comes in iGC box, as well as an iGC ball marker. Can’t have too many ball markers. Most golfers have about 500 in their bags…
Last but certainly not least is a terrific little club brush, which is not even the size of a box of Tic-Tacs. There are three retractable parts: a metal brush, a plastic brush, and a pointed plastic groove cleaner. This accessory is worth a month’s subscription price on its own. It’s so small it can live in the golfer’s pocket, ready for use whenever a quick club or groove cleaning is needed. Clubs work their best when they’re clean and the grooves are not full of debris.
Subscriptions
There are two subscriptions available from iGC, year-round and seasonal. Both subs are $19 and delivered monthly. The yearly obviously comes every month through the year, while the seasonal is monthly between the months March through September.
Semi-Final Thoughts
I say “semi-final thoughts” because I’ll be covering another iGC box soon, which offers some other goodies, to give you the idea of the variance.

If you know your golfer’s home course, a great gift is simply a gift card to the course. Then your recipient can choose exactly what he/she wants. Some courses separate pro shop apparel and equipment from golf green fees, so make sure you get them the card for whichever one you prefer.
Range Pass
Some courses also offer range passes or punch passes for buckets. A gift of game improvement is a great idea.
Lesson(s)
Speaking of game improvement, consider buying a lesson from a PGA Pro at your local course as a Christmas golf gift. The course can likely work that into a gift card of some kind or gift certificate.
Balls
If you’d like to be a little more personal take a sneaky peek at your golfer’s golf bag if you can. See what kind of golf balls they have in the pocket. There’s probably a hodge podge of balls, but look closely and try to figure out his/her preferred brand and model, or perhaps you already know it. Your local golf shop should have them.

Golfers can never have too many golf shirts, shorts, hats, outerwear or golf socks. Most local golf course pro shops have great selections. Many regional shops have team logo items for your favorite college or pro team.
Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Uber Wednesday (I just made that up)… Christmas is coming in about a month and it’s time to start thinking about getting the golfer on your gift list some cool gear. Women get flowers and smelly stuff as gifts. What do men get? Ties? Yuck. Now men can get a gift which they would like as much as women like smelly stuff and flower gifts, the BroBasket. BroBasket you ask? Yes. I just got my first one. It went something like this.
The mystery box above was on my doorstep and had the quote, “a special gift for you.” I thought to myself, “oh goodie!”
The fun stuff inside the mystery box was a very cool combination of “bro” friendly items like wine, whiskey rocks, golf balls, golf accessories, and a reusable basket to put other bro stuff in.

HubMax in action, charging my phone and a Golf Buddy GPS
When I’m out and about or traveling, invariably one of my zillions of devices’ battery dies. That’s where my new myCharge HubMax Portable Charger comes into play. HubMax is a great USB/Lightning charger. Let me tell you this, myCharge is in charge!
HubMax Features
HubMax is a portable charging device which has a Lightning cable for Apple devices like iPhones, Apple Watches, and iPads. It also has a built in micro-USB for standard devices like smartphones, fitness devices, tablets and so on. And in case those two cables don’t cover it, there’s a standard USB port on the side. This is perfect for some of my golf GPS watches which have a standard USB plug on one end and a bizarre proprietary charging setup on the unit.
The HubMax is one of a series of four Hub units. The HubMax is the 2nd to the top of the list in terms of the amount of power it holds, at 10,050mAh. The biggest unit, the HubUltra has a capacity of 12,000mAh while the smallest unit, the HubMini, clocks in at 3,000mAh.
The Max provides me about 6x the battery life of my phone. When I’m out on the HOG World Tour I can use a lot of battery power between GPSing golf holes, shooting pictures, and sharing photos and content from the course with my phone. Now I need not worry about having enough battery life.
The unit’s Lithium ion battery and technology allows it to charge very fast, up to 50% faster than comparable units. It also charges devices up to 65% faster. Great to plug it in during lunch, between two rounds of 18.
The footprint is about 2x as thick as a smartphone, but not as tall or wide.
The unit plugs into the wall (photo below). The charging prongs conveniently fold in for transport.
Conclusion
The myCharge Hub series runs in price from $49 for the Mini to $149 for the Ultra. My unit, the HubMax, runs $99. On and off the course this is a fantastic accessory for the golfer or the golf spectator. A portable charger like this would make a great gift for the golfer who has lots of electronic golf gadgets.
