The motto around here lately is “Milestones R Us.” Today’s milestone is that this post is post #1000. Building, running and posting to this blog has been, and continues to be a major highlight for me since December 2004. I’ve met some very cool people, cool golf companies and played some golf at great courses as a result of being a golf blogger.

I’m especially glad to have met my closer blogger friends like Eat, BogeyMan, Luke Swilor, GolfChick, Jay Flemma, Grouchy, Megan Heckeroth, Mike Pederson and GolfBlogger. I’ve got probably over 100 golf blog friends listed in the HOG Master Links as well.

I’ve made contacts and friends with some awesome golf companies, some small and some big. Regardless of their size these folks understand the blogger mentality and the power of viral and grass roots marketing. Special thanks to my friends at Ogio, Taylormade, Callaway, Bridgestone, Mizuno, MacGregor, Peak Vision, Dunlop, Swing Juice, Golf Dust, Nintendo and Nickent.

Here are a few of my favorite posts:

It’s not too late to get me a birthday present

Post 999!

Yes today is my birthday. Another year older and another year wiser. Yeah right.

It’s still not too late to get me a birthday present so I’ve put together a “top ten” items you can pick for when you are shopping for me:

1. 2007 Masters tickets
2. Golf at Augusta National.
3. A Porsche 911 Turbo, 911 GT 3 or Cayman (take your pick on the model but I prefer red).
4. A golf trip to Scotland, St. Andrews and the rest (better include the airfare and hotels too).
5. Golf at Pinehurst #2.
6. Golf at Pebble Beach.
7. Golf at Bandon Dunes.
8. Golf at Shadow Creek (better include some Vegas gambling money and an evening at the Olympic Garden).
9. Golf at Pine Valley.
10. Golf at TPC Sawgrass.

That’s a pretty good list. More than one submission of each selection will gladly be accepted.

My local sheriff golfs on my tax dollar

I was surprised to see a link to this local story over on The Golf Blog. I’ve known about sheriff Kennard here in Salt Lake for a long time. I knew he was a golfer but what I didn’t know is that he was golfing while ON DUTY. He says that golfing on the job actually makes him do a better job because he’s more relaxed or some crap like that. Man what boss would take that explanation?

Boss: “Bob where’s that presentation?”
Bob: “I’m on the 12th green sir. I’m working on it.”

This sheriff is up for re-election too. I hope he loses. I’d feel safer if my sheriff was out catching bad guys rather than hitting the links.

The REST of the story

Now what The Golf Blog and the local new teams didn’t report is that this sheriff is a CHEATER. He’s a friggin’ sandbagger. He’s actually been banned from the country club I play at. He played the biggest tournament of the year up there a few years ago. When I say “biggest” I mean “the most big money, under the table bets among members.” The sheriff shot a “career round” and cost a lot of people some big money. That career round was one of those that is a 900,000/1 chance. Yeah, right.

Another milestone this week for my sister site The Golf Space at www.thegolfspace.com. A quarter of a million visitors have hit the site since it opened during Masters week 2006! There are BIG things on the horizon for this site…

Earlier this week I posted about the 1000 member milestone. Check it out here.

Golf course photos sorted!

Man I’ve just spent over 2 hours sorting the over 900 golf course photos in the golf course photo gallery. I’ve arranged them by state (or continent as the case may be). Within each state I have a separate gallery for each golf course.

Click here to check out the golf course gallery or here for the 2238 images in the main photo gallery.
