Velocity Wipes Review

Velocity Wipes are moist golf club cleaning towels which come in a dispenser similar to what you’d see baby wipes come in, only much bigger.

I’m not sure what kind of magic chemical they’re soaked in, but these babies clean clubs better than hot soapy water with a steel brush. The wipes easily clean the grass stains off my irons and woods (no I don’t have grass stains on my driver). Even dirt and grass stains which seemed tough to remove from the grooves of my irons via a steel brush were removed (or are they dissolved?) with very little elbow grease. The less elbow grease the better for guys like me who have golfer’s elbow.

Velocity Wipes are truly amazing. Even with the most intense scrubbing with warm soapy water my irons don’t end up with a shine close to when I use the Velocity Wipes. I know it sounds cliche’ but my irons haven’t looked this good since they were new. They look brand new now.

As strong as the chemical in the VW’s must be I started to worry that it might eat the skin right off my hands. I can say that the skin on my hands is still there and I’ve not had even the slightest bit of irritation. So whatever they are using it’s amazing at cleaning clubs but is harmless when it comes to your skin.

Perhaps it’s in my head, but not only do the VW’s clean the clubs better than anything I’ve ever tried but they stay clean longer too. 2-3 rounds after I first cleaned my irons they still seemed to shine more than normal.

Conclusion

Velocity Wipes do an amazing job cleaning your clubs with very little effort. One wipe can do your whole set of clubs, leaving them practically as clean and shiny as the day they were new.

Ballyneal Golf Course Review

Ballyneal is a private golf club located a few minutes from Holyoke Colorado. Ballyneal opened in September 2006 and I was privileged to play the course before it officially opened. Holyoke is a very small town in North Eastern Colorado, roughly 12 miles from the Colorado/Nebraska border. You would never be able to find Ballyneal if you were simply passing through the town of Holyoke and wanted to stop by. To get there you need to drive about 15-20 miles through a maze of dirt farming roads which provide farmers access to the thousands of acres of cornfields in the area. You’d have an easier time finding the course if you chartered a small helicopter.

Designed by Tom Doak

Ballyneal was designed by my new favorite golf course designer: Tom Doak. Tom Doak is probably most famous for his design at Pacific Dunes in Oregon. I have yet to play Pacific Dunes, but since I’ve experienced Ballyneal it’s at the top of my golf course to-do list.

After doing a little research on Doak my ranking was solidified even more when I found out he designed one of my all time favorite courses: Stonewall in Elverson Pennsylvania. Stonewall is an amazing course and has the dubious distinction of bringing my game to it’s knees worse than any other course has.

HOG hits the road to Philly and NYC

It’s 1:00am and I’m just finishing cramming all my golf gear and 7 days worth of clothes into my Ogio Monster. More on the Monster after this trip…

I’m off to Philadelphia PA to visit my best friend and golf for 4-5 straight days. After hanging with my pal in PA I’ll be off to New York where I’ll be hooking up with my cousin, Jay Flemma and my buddy Andrew. Andrew used to be a local until he moved to Brooklyn. He’s a golden glove boxer and once beat The Used’s drummer off my drum kit when he was drunk and wouldn’t get off.

I’ll be posting from the road and gathering new material for course reviews in the PA and hopefully NY areas!

Next post will be tomorrow night, 2500 miles East of here.
