We’re now up to 87 teams between the two current leagues: HOG Space and HOG Space 2. There’s still room in league two and you can still win tons of prizes so click here for details on how to join the fray.
I don’t know if this is new news or not but it’s new to me. I was very thirsty the other day and looking for something new to drink. I decided on tomato juice. But in the process I found this beverage by the king, Arnold Palmer.

Along with the Tadd Fujikawa story, there are some other notable stories from the 2007 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Paul Azinger has left the announcer’s booth and is making a go of it on tour again. He played fairly well and placed T-13.
John Daly played some consistent golf with 69, 68, 71, 68. He didn’t beat Fujikawa but he did manage a decent T-28.
Notables who missed the cut were J.B. Holmes, Aaron Baddeley, Sean Micheel, Ben Curtis and Stuart Appleby.
Sony Open Winner Paul Goydos didn’t exactly make a big splash when he hit the PGA Tour in the early 90s. He had one victory in 1996. You could call him a journeyman player. My guess is this victory is probably his last and he’ll return to that journeyman status but you never know.
Charles Howell III is one of those players who was expected to do some real damage on tour. CHIII’s only victory dates back to 2002. The only damage he’s really managed since then is taking a great chance of winning a tournament and turning it into a disappointing 2nd place finish. That’s exactly what he did last week. Perhaps being so close will give him the experience necessary to break through later on in his career.
The Sony Open last week gave us the first great story of the 2007 PGA Tour (or golf for that matter) season: Tadd Fujikawa. Fujikawa is a 16 year old amateur who was the youngest player in 50 years to make the cut on the PGA Tour.
Fujikawa was born 3.5 months premature and weighed roughly one pound. He didn’t have much of a chance of survival but he made it. He practiced martial arts with the coaching of his father at a high level but then took to the game of golf and was hooked.
Forget female golfers who miss cuts in men’s tournaments seemingly more often than they play in tournaments on the LPGA, this is a real story. At barely over five feet tall, this small framed young man not only competed with the big boys, he had a chance to beat them. He made the cut on Friday at the Sony Open in Hawaii and sat in 3rd place on the leaderboard. By the time the tournament was over, a 72 on the final day left him tied for 20th. T-20 is terrific showing for a person of his stature and age.
Tadd’s scores of 71, 66, 66 and 72 against the big boys proved that he has the game to play on tour.
My friend Tom Gov has now been golf blogging for one year over at www.point1golf.com. He provides some great golf insight from a former club pro’s viewpoint.
Here’s a happy blogday wish for Tom and I hope to be writing a post about his 2nd blogday a year from now.
