I’m a pretty happy camper right now. Everyone join in with me:
“Three cheers for global warming. Three cheers for global warming.”
I just played golf three days in a row in December. I can’t remember the last time I did that. I played pretty well today until I ran out of gas and went +4 in the last five holes. I managed a 76 (+4) in “competitive” conditions (i.e. money on the line). I did manage to collect enough in winnings to play a complimentary round.
I’m not sure how long this will last, but I’m happy so far. I like global warming. Longer golf season…
Quite the golf blog title today eh? I’ve been using a very interesting piece of jewelery on my wrist lately by Solarra Body. I’ve seen many magnetic and copper bracelets in use for game improvement and body health, but this one goes beyond anything I’ve seen before. If you are looking for a Christmas gift for the golfer who has everything, this may be one option.
How it works
Solarra jewlery has a solar cell which converts light to energy. Sunlight provides a considerably better result than artificial light. The energy converted is then used to power a circuit board which sends out a pulse at 7.8Hz (Hertz, or cycles per second) which charges an electro-magnet which runs at 7.8Hz as well. 7.8Hz is a pretty low frequency, which can’t be heard by the human ear. The lowest frequency we can hear is 20Hz.
The 7.8Hz electromagnetic pulse is absorbed by the body.
Why 7.8Hz?
I’ve gotten to know Casey Jones online. Casey has a cool service I’m testing out. He draws up custom “scoreboard art” and frames it up for you. He does custom scorecards and scoreboards for everyone from Joe Hacker to Padraig Harrington. The art is great for displaying proud golf moments like your best round, hole in one, winning a tournament, first time you broke 90 or whatever.
Casey is doing up a custom scoreboard art for me highlighting my proudest moment, winning my club championship back in 2005. I put Casey to work a bit with my scorecard. My championship was match play, so we did some custom matchplay fields. I can’t wait to see what Casey will do.
I’m confident the quality of my art will be super high. That being said, I’m going to recommend Casey Jones Golf sight unseen to anyone who is looking to preserve a proud golf moment. This would be a great gift for a golfer you know as well.
More soon, when my artwork arrives!
I have several golf shirts with skulls on them. My driver shaft and putter shaft have skulls on them. My golf bag has skulls on it. My golf glove has a skull on it. My golf belt has skulls on it. My head covers have skulls on them… Finally I have skulls on my balls… Ahem.
With Christmas coming soon, here’s a great golf stocking stuffer for the golfer who has everything.
GolfDotz are tiny stickers you put on your golf balls. They practically blend right in with the cover of the ball, and stay on well unless it is cold. I don’t need to put my initials on my balls anymore. Mine are easily identifiable by the skulls on them.
Buddy: “What ball are you playing? Mine has blue markings on it.”
Me: “Mine has a black skull and cross-bones on it.”
Putting the GolfDotz on couldn’t be easier. Do a wide cut from the sheet around the dot you want to place. Place the dot on the ball where you want and press it in. That is it. Super easy.
Styles
GolfDotz are available in close to 50 different styles from lady bugs to aliens and everything between.
Durability?
GolfDotz are surprisingly durable. I shred golf ball covers with my milled wedges and I can shred GolfDotz too, which is to be expected. Otherwise they stay on and are fairly resilient.
In cold temps I’ve had problems getting the Dotz to stay on. In fact the package backing and the dot sheet even separate in cold temps (under 45 as I’ve found).
Conclusion
GolfDotz are cool and FUN. Stay tuned as I’ll be giving a few Dotz away here and at The Golf Space as prizes.

Seve Ballesteros underwent another surgery today. This time it was to drain fluid from his brain. He’s in stable condition now and has a valve in his brain. No new news on if his condition has worsened and I hope it hasn’t.
