Cutters Golf Gloves

As I’ve mentioned a few times before, I don’t typically wear golf gloves.  But after wearing a couple of great gloves recently, I’m considering a change, at least for the cold weather of winter golf.

I’ve played a bunch of rounds with a Cutters golf glove.  Cutters gloves are crossed over from gloves made for other sports.  Cutters is famous for being in play on may NFL and college football receivers’ hands.  The same technology which helps those football players hang on to the ball helps a golfer grip solidly.

Technology

Cutters gloves employ their trademark “C-TACK™ Material” for an enhanced grip.   C-TACK allows you to grip your club with less pressure.  If you can be relaxed yet have a firm grip, you can generate more power, control and club head speed.

My Utah Utes play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl

I was hoping my Utah Ute football team (12-0 baby) would be playing in the Fiesta Bowl.  That way I could play some golf in Arizona, say hello to a few friends there and have a good time.

That plan is axed now since the Utes are in the Sugar Bowl on Jan 2 in New Orleans.  I guess I’ll be watching my team play from the comfort of my couch.

Michelle Wie gets her LPGA Tour card. HOG ban on the words “Michelle Wie” lifted.

I’ve had a ban on the words “Michelle Wie” going for some time.  I promised not to mention her name and provide more media hype for someone who hadn’t won so much as a game of tic-tac-toe yet.  That ban is now lifted, following Wie’s Q-School top 20 finish which got her a 2009 LPGA Tour card.

Now Michelle has to take some new steps.  She needs new management (which won’t happen).  She needs to go to her English language classes at Stanford and learn now to form a sentence without the word “like” in it.  Before she plays with the men, or mentions something ridiculous like saying she wants to play in the Ryder Cup or The Masters, she needs to win an LPGA tournament… like.

NURU golf cards

nuru golf cardsI’ve got a neat set of golf cards from NURU which I keep in my bag and take with me when I travel. The NURU deck contains a bunch of great and simple golf tips and drills. If you have issues to resolve or need some pointers on golf drills, having a NURU deck handy would be a good idea.

On the course

One of my big flaws which appears when my swing starts to go bad is a total shift forward. Rather than turning around my spine or core, I tend to sway forward. That flaw caused me to miss 13 out of 18 greens last Thursday, and caused several green pieces of paper to exit my wallet and enter my opponent’s.

I found a drill in the NURU deck, “Avoid the hip shift,” which helped me get out of that rut by sticking a shaft in the ground and putting it just to the left of my left side. If I swayed, I’d hit the shaft. If I turned correctly, I’d wouldn’t. After implementing the drill, my round today saw 11 greens in regulation.  This still isn’t a great stat, but it is a hell of a lot better than five.

Simple drills like the ones in the NURU deck can make a huge difference, prevent a swing breakdown, or correct a breakdown after it has occurred.

Conclusion

At a mere $10 for a deck, there’s 50X that in instruction you might get from your local pro.  If you are looking for a unique golf gift for Chrismas or some other reason, a NURU golf deck would be a great option.
