The 2009 fantasy golf season has begun!

We have a tie for 1st in week one between " Nice Shot…You’re Still Out" and "kleinrider."

Each person will receive a weekly prize, as soon as I’ve nailed down what the weekly prizes are. That will be following the PGA Merchandise Show at the end of January.

Khaaaaannnnnn!!!!

When I was a kid I definitely watched Fantasy Island.  As a Star Trek fan, I loved Ricardo Montalban as Khan Noonien Singh in the original 60’s episode “Space Seed” and then in “Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan.”

Ricardo Montalban passed away today at 88.

Thanks for the memories sir.  I now feel it is time to apologize to you for pulling into your driveway in Beverly Hills back in 1988.  Yes, that was me and my best friend you heard in your driveway yelling “Khaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn!!!!”

I’m happy to announce the confirmation of HOG Space Fantasy Golf sponsor #3.  VedaloHD makes killer golf sunglasses and they’ll be providing a pair of shades for the winners of the 1st half and 2nd half of the fantasy season!

You may have seen VedaloHD’s in use by a caddie for a certain famous player named Tiger Woods.  Yes, Steve Williams’ shades are VedaloHD’s.

No George Lopez? No Wie? Maybe Kenny G is next…

And there was much rejoicing! No George Lopez!

I was just reading one of my regular blog stops over at Geoff Shackelford’s blog. I found out that George Lopez was no longer going to be the celebrity host for the Bob Hope Desert Classic. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to actually be able to watch that tournament now! To say I’m not a George Lopez fan is as big an understatement as saying Tiger Woods is an average golfer.

Every year I’d turn on the broadcast and practically injure myself diving for the remote to change channels when Lopez would come on with his not-funny shtick.

No Michelle Wie at the Sony!

I was setting my fantasy team for this week’s Sony in Hawaii and realized that Michelle Wie wasn’t in the field. This is good. I hope this means Wie is concentrating on her LPGA season, rather than making a fool of herself.

Why not make it three?

I’m glad enough to see these omissions, but why don’t we make it a complete set? Let us go ahead a give Kenny G the boot now. He can take his kazoo and his long hair and, oh, maybe play for mountain bikers or something.

Puma Swing GTX Golf Shoe

puma golf shoe swing gtxThis Puma Swing GTX golf shoe brings the best of old school design and modern technology into a super hip looking package.

Looks

This Swing GTX was a real eye catcher for me the first time I saw it.  There’s a retro style and simple elegance to these golf shoes.  How Puma can take a white shoe with a couple of green (or black depending on the model) lines and make it look so cool is beyond me.  That’s why I’m a golf blogger and not a shoe designer I suppose.

Comfort

The Swing GTX is super comfortable.  With the soft leather in the upper I feel like I’m wearing my cozy slippers rather than a pair of performance golf shoes.

There was no break-in period required before enjoying that comfort level either.  I put ’em on and they felt great right out of the box.
