Monthly subscriptions are the rage. Why get a bunch of overpriced razors when you could get something much more fun and useful, like golf stuff? There are a lot of monthly golf subs, but if you want to really class it up, check out the GolfJet JetPack.

Golf Jet – Jet Pack

The Packages

GolfJet offers several different monthly packages ranging from $37.95/month. Included in each pack are GolfJet golf balls, a glove, tees, ball marker, and access to the GolfJet Connect mobile app.

Depending on the package level, the JetPack will include 9 or 12 balls. See more on the ball types below.

JET Series Golf Balls

There are two models of GolfJet golf balls, the Jet3 and Jet4. Each model features a urethane cover, the secret sauce to “Tour” performance. Urethane is what makes the ball perform the best around the greens. The Jet3 golf ball is a 3-layer ball and you guessed it, the Jet4 is a 4-layer ball.

I played both the Jet3 and Jet4 balls for several weeks. Both balls spin incredibly around the greens. One would have a hard time finding a difference between these and big named Tour balls like the ProV1, TaylorMade TP, or Callaway Chrome Soft.

I found the Jet4 to be a little harder feeling off the driver than the Jet3. I personally prefer the softer, more mushy feel. That said, I scored well with both balls.

Glove

The cabretta leather golf glove is luxurious. I’m not much of a glove wearer, but I gave the glove some attention and found the comfort and performance to be great.

Tees

The GolfJet tees are interesting. There’s a gold rubber crowned section on the top which helps protect the golf club. The body of the tee is shaped more like a blade or knife. It’s not round. The tip of the tee, a blade shape, is great for groove cleaning and cleat cleaning.

App

The GolfJet app is exclusive to GolfJet subscribers.

The app features GPS rangefinder capabilities, score tracking, statistics, and sharing (smack talking) with your golf buddies.

Final Thoughts

The cost of a box of Titleist ProV1’s or other high-end tour balls can run in the $50’s, $60’s and up. For less than the cost of a dozen of those balls, golfers can enjoy a dozen premium urethane covered balls which perform just as well, and delivered right to their door. Add to that the tees, plush leather glove, ball marker and mobile app and that’s a winning ticket.

Sun Mountain Hybrid Vest Review

Spring is here in northern Utah. What that basically means is there’s 50-60 degree temps but mixed with snow showers every few days. The snow melts quickly now.

This is the perfect time of year (or all year in Scotland) to enjoy the comfort, style and performance of the Sun Mountain Hybrid vest. Let’s take a look.

Sun Mountain Hybrid Vest

Overview

The Hybrid Vest is a windproof vest with quilted panels which provide warmth. Stretch panels move with the golfer’s swing and the “DWR” finish on the quilted panels provides water resistance.

The Hybrid offers zippered hand-warmer pockets and an inside chest pocket.

Colors/Sizes

The Hybrid is available in five colors: blue (shown), black, dark gray, light gray with blue trim.

Sizes range from small to double extra-large. I game XL’s usually and the fit is right on. Thankfully it’s not the smaller “skinny euro” fit.

On The Course

I’ve been enjoying the Hybrid, despite the blue color. It’s well known I don’t do blue. It’s a college football thing. That said, this vest is so great I’ll go blue temporarily. Just don’t let my football pals know.

On the course the vest has been perfect for these spring days were I need to keep my core, especially my back warm. It does a perfect job protecting my core against wind and cold, and keeps my arms free and clear.

During the golf swing the Hybrid stretches and adjusts perfectly. No binding, pulling, or tight spots restricting my rather unorthodox swing.

I’ve gamed the Hybrid vest around town and at work as well. It’s very comfortable and not too bulky.

Final Thoughts

The Sun Mountain Hybrid Vest ($119) checks off all of my requirements for an outerwear piece of this type. First and foremost it needs to do its primary job of keeping me warm and protecting me from wind and cold. Check. Add to that great styling and comfort and the Hybrid is like a tap-in birdie putt.

First Look: Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align Golf Grips

It’s about time I got a better grip on my golf game and I’m happy to report that I’ve got some new Golf Pride Tour Velvet Align grips in for review.

The red line you see is a ridge that rises when the grips are installed. At first I thought the ridge would go on the top of the club for a visual alignment aid. But the ridge extends down the back of the grip and helps the player with hand alignment via feel.

I play a couple of rounds in the next few days, then I’ll be having my old grips removed and the Tour Velvet Align grips installed. I’m looking forward to testing these for the next weeks and months. I’m very anxious to see how their performance in wet conditions is. My old grips were great, but when my hands were sweaty or during rain, they became very slippery.

First Look: Puma Ignite PWRADAPT Disc Golf Shoes

Recently in for review is a pair of Puma Ignite PWRADAPT Disc Golf Shoes. I’ve already started the rigorous Hooked on Golf Blog test battery.

I walked two rounds in the Puma Ignite PWRADAPT Disc Golf Shoes last week and several more walking rounds will be coming for the next few weeks. I don’t wear golf shoes for five minutes in my office and then post a review. I test them for weeks and even months, on real golf courses, playing real golf!

These golf shoes feature a “Disc” lacing system. That’s the funky looking dial (disc) you see at the top of the tongue of the shoe. The single lace on each shoe is metal, and twisting the disc one way tightens and the other way pops it open. Check out the quick video demonstration below.
