This is my 2nd review of a Weszty golf product, made by my pal John Wesztergom at Weszty Golf. John and I met through The Golf Space and have become pals.  We even hung out at the 2010 PGA Show.  John founded Weszty Golf back in 2005 and has been tirelessly working on clubs and new designs since then.

Today’s review is of the Weszty Double-U irons

The Double-U Design

The Double-U name comes from the design of the head itself, a “double undercut” design.  It looks like a blade club with an extra 1/4 blade on the bottom of the head, with a gap between the face and extra blade or what Weszty calls a “bar.”  There’s some extra mass behind the the bottom of the face or what is termed as “muscle” in the industry.  So the club is sort of a combination of a muscle back blade with an extra mini bar in the back.  Wait a minute.  It is has a “mini bar in the back.”  Great for the 19th hole too!!!

TPC Sawgrass Yardage Book Deleted

Unfortunately I had to delete the TPC Sawgrass yardage book from the HOG TPC Sawgrass Photo Gallery.  The company who made the yardage book requested that I do so.  I couldn’t convince the company that being on HOG is bigger and better than anything imaginable in the golf world…  Oh well.  So you’ll have to find that information elsewhere.  My apologies.

BUT, I do have a bunch of my own photographs of the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course which I gave myself permission to publish.  There are about 120 images in the gallery.  Check them all out in the HOG TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course Image Gallery.

Rory McIlroy’s winning 62 at Quail Hollow was impressive

What would it be like to win a PGA Tour event before you even need to shave?

No choke factor.  No Sunday gag.  No melting down in the stretch.  20 year old Rory McIlroy shot an amazing 62 yesterday to win the Quail Hollow Championship over 2nd place finisher Phil Mickelson and 3rd place Angel Cabrera.

McIlroy devasted the course, which was supposed to be difficult.  His swing looked flawless and his putting was perfect.  He even set the course record under Sunday conditions on the PGA Tour.

I would have rather played golf yesterday than watched it personally, but the Sunday finish at Qual Hollow was a close 2nd place.

Tiger likely to miss cut at Quail Hollow

Tiger Woods sits at +5 on the 13th hole at Quail Hollow.  He’s +3 today and not looking “Tiger like.”  Unless he makes a bunch of birdies, he’ll be heading home tonight and missing the cut, the first in a regular season non-major since 2005.

Stats

Tiger has hit 1/4 of his fairways, 50% of his greens in regulation and had 10 bogeys or worse.  That adds up to a missed cut.
