My first Bridgestone ball fitting

Last week I played a very frustrating, windy and cold round up the canyon.  I pretty much lost my will to live when my score ballooned in the cold wind.  I’m a 25 handicap if the temps are below 70 and a two handicap if they’re above 80.  I was on my way to the car when I saw the Bridgestone tent down on the range.  This was my first real opportunity to try a ball fitting and I felt like I needed to give it a try even though I was tired and my back was tight.

About Bridgestone ball fitting

When you get a ball fitting, the techs have you hit balls on their launch monitor.  Bridgestone’s system shows you your club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, side spin RPM’s, spin in RPM’s and carry distance.  Based on your swing speed they can recommend the best ball for you.

Seve Ballesteros will not attend British Open

Seve Ballesteros’ doctors have advised him not to attend the British Open at St. Andrews in July.  This is following a scheduled examination where it was determined that the physical and emotional strain on Seve would be too great.

I very much wanted to be at The Open in St Andrews next month to personally thank all the golf fans and friends who have given me their support, not only during these two years, when I have been recovering from my illness but also to thank them for the affection they have shown during my golf career.

I am aware that there might be people who have been preparing their trip to encourage and cheer me up. Hence, I do not want to disappoint anyone at the last minute and after listening to the doctors’ advice I have taken the difficult decision not to travel to St Andrews. ~Seve Ballesteros

Reports surfacing that Tiger Woods divorce is on and will exceed $750m

I found some articles floating around which say that Tiger Woods divorce is on, and that it is close to being done.  Having gone though a divorce myself I seriously doubt it is that close to done, especially given that my divorce had a lot less zeros left of the decimal point. Given the reputation of some of these sources I’m taking this with a grain of salt, or bunker sand as the case may be.

According to these sources the divorce is close to done and it will net Elin Woods over $750 million.

Drizzle Stik

While at the PGA Show this year, I managed a good trade.  The booth across from ours was the Drizzle Stik both.  They wanted a hat bad and told me they’d trade it for a Drizzle Stik.  That was a good deal for me, since I would have given them a hat anyway.  Little did I know how much I’d like using this thing.

What is a Drizzle Stik?

A Drizzle Stik is a mini umbrella which fits on top of a golf bag to keep the golf clubs from getting wet, or from getting a sunburn.  We’ll call it a golf bag umbrella, but it could also be used as an umbrella for a really skinny person.

An inner layer (pictured in Drizzle Stik image gallery) covers the frame of the umbrella on the underside, which keeps it from hooking on any clubs or the bag.  It also prevents any scratching of clubs.

Compact

The unit folds to a nice compact size which easily fits into pockets of your golf bag or even a backpack.  Extended the handle reaches 49 inches.  I put the handle into my bag and it slides in like a club and keeps my clubs dry in the rain.  To get clubs out I just slide the unit up.

On the course

Living in a desert, it is difficult to find opportunities to test devices which are to be used in the rain.  But we had an abnormally rainy spring, so I had many opportunities to put my Drizzle Stik into play, and it performed well.  During my many rainy rounds I’ve played with my Stik, my clubs and grips have remained dry and given me the best chance to hit good shots in wet conditions.

Conclusion

At $19.99, this is a great investment in golf accessories.  The Drizzle Stik protects the clubs from the rain in a convenient way, and can double as a thin umbrella on the course or out and about.  The compact size makes it easy to store and bring with you anywhere.
