Doral Weather Delay

Bad weather at Doral

Wow there’s a big storm hitting Doral right now.  Trees are blowing over and it is raining sideways.  Even the hospitality tents are close to flying away, as Graeme McDowell put it.  Play has been delayed an estimated three hours.

Quote of the day comes from Geoff Ogilvy:

“Here I am, having a wonderful morning, with a one foot putt for double on my first hole, and they blow the siren.”

Kelly Tilghman on the weather:

“Our towers at 8 and 9 have been blown away.”

Ian Poulter:

“There are tv towers in bunkers, the main scoreboard has blown over, the course will take a little while to get ready, hope we get out there.”

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Graeme McDowell have yet to tee off.

This is my first post from the new HOG World Headquarters.  The move isn’t close to done, but I have digital connectivity now, which is good.

The move is killing my back.  I’m hurting bad now.  Can’t really do anything right now but be a golf geek on the computer.

UFC 135 – HANEY vs FOLEY

UFC 135 Haney Foley

Ultimate Flogging Championship – UFC 135 – HANEY VS FOLEY

There’s a new UFC (Ultimate Flogging Championship) coming during Masters week next month.  Following the recent spats in the media between Tiger Woods’ current swing coach Sean Foley and Tiger’s former coach Hank Haney, the two have agreed to a five round championship bout in the octagon in UFC 135 – HANEY VS FOLEY.

The Match Up

While one may pick Foley because he is a few years younger, don’t count out Haney’s experience.

Haney’s strengths are ground and pound, Muay Thai and a bit of Brazilian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Haney will want to get the fight to the ground as soon as possible and take Foley out of his game plan.

Foley will want to keep the match off the ground and play to his strength, boxing in the stand up game.  Foley has a strong jab which could do some damage to Haney.  The question about Foley is whether he can defend the take downs by Haney well enough.

HOG attempting to get exclusive interviews soon

My management team is in the process of tracking down Foley and Haney in attempt to do some exclusive interviews.  Stay tuned.

How do cars float?

How Cars Float

Just yesterday this question crossed my mind: How do cars float?  The one thing I was most interested in regarding the production of a golf tournament or PGA Tour event, was figuring out how they made the cars float.  I thought perhaps they had some sort of scaffolding which extended to the bottom, but then I thought that wouldn’t work.

Low and behold I read a tweet from my good buddy Rob at Sandbox.com.  He’s covering the WGC Cadillac this week.  He shot a picture (right) of the crew setting up the floating cars in the lake at the Blue Monster in Doral.

Rob, thanks for answering this question which has tied my two celled brain in knots for years. Since you are psychic Rob, time for you to guess what question I’m wondering now…
