As I mentioned in the previous post, Bridgestone is announcing some new gear. Along with the new Bridgestone Golf J40 irons announced yesterday, Bridgestone has two new J40 driver models and a new line of J40 fairway woods.
J40 Drivers
The new J40 drivers will come in two models, a 430cc model and 445cc model (pictured right).
J40 Fairways
Interesting lineup for the new J40 fairways with three models, a “3+” wood (below), 4-wood and 5-wood. Normal 3-woods are 15 degrees, but the 3+ is 14 degrees for that little bit of extra distance. The 4-wood is 16 degrees and the 5-wood is 18 degrees.
More images of the new (and old) Bridgestone gear is in the HOG Bridgestone Golf image gallery.
Bridgestone Golf is in the midst of releasing a bunch of new clubs across the board. There are two new sets of irons coming out, the new J40 Forged Dual Pocket Cavity (2nd image below) and the new J40 Forged Cavity Back (1st image below). I’m hoping to get my hands on these babies when they’re available for review. Stay tuned.

Hurricane Irene is closing in on the east coast and has caused the PGA Tour to cut the first segment of the FedEx Cup playoffs to 54 holes. The Barclays will have a Friday cut as normal, and Saturday’s round will be the final round.
“We do everything we possibly can to get 72 holes by Sunday. Unfortunately, Irene is not cooperating.” ~Slugger White, PGA Tour vice president of rules and competition
Scoreboards will be taken down Friday afternoon.
FedEx Cup playoffs week one is this week at the Barclays. Set your DVR:

In an attempt to keep big name players playing after the final major and keep up fan interest/ratings, the PGA Tour created the FedEx Cup playoff system a few years ago. It wasn’t perfect and they tweaked the system for a while. I’m all for having more high level golf available to consume as a fan, and however they need to do it is fine with me.
I’m very curious to find out if HOG readers understand the FedEx Cup. Quite simply I’d like to ask that very question, which is now a poll question in the upper left column here on HOG. Please vote, and comment in below if you’d like a little more input.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE FEDEX CUP AND/OR DO YOU CARE?
