2011 HOG Space Fantasy Golf is OVER. Thanks to all who competed! It has been a fantastic season and MANY thanks to the sponsors Nike, FootJoy, Bridgestone Golf, Dornoch Putters, Sumi-G, Frogger Golf and Tattoo Golf. Unfortunately it seems that the last sponsor, Tornado Tees, may not be in business anymore. I’ve tried a million times to get in touch with them and no response, and they are local. So whoever won those weekly prizes, I can send you a different prize since I have a few others left over from last season.  And now, the winners!  Drum roll please…

Cheveron World ChallengeSet your DVR.  Tiger Woods is in action the next four days and supposedly is ready for some kind of breakthrough in his game.  At least that’s what all the scribes are scribing.  We’ll see.  His chances are pretty good, considering there are only 18 players in the field.  One of my fav’s is in the field: K.J. Choi.

PING Scottsdale Shea Putter Review

PING Scottsdale Shea Putter

Welcome to my second in a three part review series of PING Scottsdale putters, each which is designed for a specific arc type.  The first was my review of the PING Scottsdale Senita putter, which is most suited for a straight putting arc.  Today’s subject is the Shea putter, best suited for a slight arc.  Hey, that’s my arc type!

PING Scottsdale Shea Putter Overview

The Scottsdale Shea putter is a heel-toe balanced (mid-hang) mallet putter.  It is a bit of a cross between a heel-toe blade and a small rounded mallet.  Like the other Scottsdale putters, the top of the head is a darker matte finish.  This helps prevent glare and is easy on the eye.  The bottom of the club is a gloss finish. Gotta love glossy bottoms.

Technology

The Scottsdale line employs a few standard technologies.

The face of the Shea Scottsdale contains a “thermoplastic elastomer” insert.  The plastic/rubber insert provides a great soft feel and helps with distance control.

Q-School Final Stage TV Times

It is time for the most pressure packed tournament of the year, and I’m not talking about the U.S. Open.  The final stage of PGA Tour Q-School starts today at PGA West (Nicklaus Tournament & Stadium).

Who will make the PGA Tour for 2012 and who will have to find another gig?  Players like David Duval, Lee Janzen and Boo Weekly no longer have their cards and need to qualify for next year.  Can they beat the young guns, or the old guns like Tommy Armour III?

Should be some fun golf to watch for you diehards.

Q-School TV Schedule

Sat., Dec. 3: 3-6 p.m. ET – Golf Channel
Sun., Dec. 4: 3-6 p.m. ET – Golf Channel
Mon., Dec. 5: 3:30-7 p.m. ET – Golf Channel

Today is St. Andrews day.  I love St. Andrews.  Most people think I’m 100% Greek, but I’m actually part Scottish!

St. Andrews Day

18th Green On The Old Course At Midnight (or later, don't really remember...)

After my trip there with my pals in July, I’d have to say that “auld grey toon” is my favorite “toon” in the world.
