Interview: Web.com Tour’s Dusty Fielding On Making His First Cut

Written by: Tony Korologos | Monday, March 4th, 2013

What a week in Bogota, Colombia last week!  Wow.  I made a bunch of new friends, one of which is Dusty Fielding.  Dusty is a local from St. George, Utah who in Bogota was trying to make the first cut in his Web.com Tour career.  The Colombia Championship in Bogota was his 2nd start.  He missed the cut the previous week in Panama.  Check out the interview with Dusty below.  Dusty improved his position greatly over the weekend and if you listen to what he had to say about his position he did exactly what he said he would do.  He was in last place coming into Saturday, but took advantage of making the cut to move up to a T7 finish when it was all over.  Well done.

Apologies for the audio quality.  The new Nikon shoots great HD video, but the microphone sucks.

Sam Saunders

Greetings from Bogota, Colombia.  I’ve spent the day roaming Country Club De Bogota watching these amazing players and shooting a bunch of photos.  I followed a few of the players around including Sam Saunders, who was on fire.  Saunders had 10 3’s on the scorecard.  The first score higher than a four on his card was the five he carded on his 17th hole, the par-5 8th. Unfortunately he made a double on the last hole or he would have the lead. The leader in the club house is Danny Lee, who fired a -7 64 (par is 71 here for the players but 72 for the members).  A few players are still out on the course but it doesn’t look like there is much chance they’ll catch Danny.

The weather here in Bogota is quite pleasant, going back and forth between light jacket to no jacket throughout the day depending on the wind.  Mid 60’s and about 50 raindrops around noon.

I followed around my new pals Mike and Kevin Foley on the 18th hole (their 9th) and got some good shots of them. They’re probably wishing I followed them for all 18 because they made birdie on that hole.  Check out this cool shot of them (and be sure to click it for the larger version):
