Man I tried to get this post out by the 4th of July a couple of days ago, but the new “every day” polos from Tropical Bros arrived just before the 4th.  I wore the Stars N Stripes polo 2 out of 3 days over the 4th of July weekend and I was very happy with the fit, style, and performance.  And it is soooo patriotic! Fantastic.

Stars N Stripes

This polo features moisture wicking, which helps keep the wearer cool and dry in the summer.  I just did a big hike up and ski down here at Alta Ski Area while wearing the Stars N Stripes.  It was over two miles to get to the last remaining skiable snow, and by the time I had made it to where this picture below was taken, I’d climbed over 2,000 vertical feet as well.  In other words, it was a strenuous climb.  But I was nice and cool and dry with my Tropical Bros polo.  I’m not sure this is what “Tropical” Bros had in mind, but I’m about obscure and challenging activities along with golf.

I did make a few swings in the Stars N Stripes.  Super comfortable. The soft fabric moves with the swing and doesn’t bind or stretch restrict the body contortions of the swing. And when I swing, it is pretty contorted.

Features

The Stars N Stripes is made from a very durable poly spandex fabric. As mentioned, the fabric helps pull moisture away from the wearer. These types of fabric are a dream to maintain as opposed to old school crappy cotton.  Polys and spandex almost never wrinkle.  They can be worn right out of the dryer. Oh, and the polo can be washed and dried in a dryer.  No worries about, ahem, shrinkage.

Sizes

To accommodate even the largest of customers, sizes range from small to triple-extra-large.

Final Thoughts

This is one super comfortable and light polo. There are so many great places this one will come in handy from the golf course to the beach, to even the ski slopes. Show your patriotism and snag a Stars N Stripes.  You’ll be thrilled with the purchase.

I watched that hot Neflix movie 365 Days.  I needed a cold shower after that. Now I have one, in a bag. In for review are some nice looking self care products from Duke Cannon, including cold shower face and body wipes.

We are in full summer here in the northern Utah desert.  The air is so dry and temperatures so hot.  I could really use some cool-down wipes on the course, after a bike ride or hike, or just walking the dog.  I’ll be putting this in the life bag immediately.

The lovely bride will be commandeering the bloody knuckles.  She’s a former fighter and current workout fiend and has very rough hands from all the weight lifting. Her knuckles are in fact bloody sometimes.

We will have an arm wrestle to see who gets to use the Cannon Balm lip balm, but I’m afraid I’ll lose that battle.

Stay tuned for the full evaluation soon!

The golf industry needs more golf ball manufacturers, right? Well here you go. Check out Quantix Golf.  Today we are introducing two models, the F18 and F35 models.

F35 Control

The F35 Control ball features the following:

  • 3-layer construction
  • Proprietary high-energy core
  • HPF inner cover which helps increase spin and distance
  • Cover made of a proprietary ionomer blend
  • 332 dimple pattern for flight stability and control
  • Best for mid to high swing speeds

F18 Tour

When a ball is a “tour” model it typically means the ball has PGA Tour player specs, like a Urethane cover.  So the F18 Tour is suitable for lower handicap players or players who are looking for “tour” style performance.

The F18 Tour model features:

  • 3-layer construction
  • Urethane cover for soft feel and high spin/control in short game
  • Low driver spin
  • Tour trajectory
  • Optimized for medium-high/high swing speeds

Stay Tuned

I’ll be putting the F35 and F18 into play this summer as my shoulder seems to be getting close to ready to play, following shoulder surgery.  I’ll post my review as soon as I’m able to hit some balls and play some golf!

2020 Golf Pride MCC Teams Hybrid Grips – Which Color is Your Team?

The Golf Pride MCC grip is the #1 hybrid grip on tour.  These grips are a hybrid rubber/cord grip which combines the best performance characteristics of each material. Here’s the whole color spectrum, representing color schemes for most sports teams.

The upper hand area of the grip is brushed cotton cord and the the lower part of the grip is a high performance rubber material.  The cord portion naturally gives the player a solid grip and control in all weather conditions while the rubber portion provides feel and responsiveness.

Summary

All weather control – cord style wicks away moisture to help prevent slipping.

Max surface texture – “Pebbled” texture increases surface area, increasing control of the club.

Firm feel – Grip provides firm, responsive feel and a high level of feedback. “Feedback” is the vibration and audible sound translated from the club to the golfer.

Team Colors

After careful analysis my team color is the red and black grip, just right of center.  This matches well the Utah Utes crimson red.

Which color matches your team?

Spotted at a Yard Sale – The Ultimate Putting System

Today was the once-a-year neighborhood yard sale. All the houses on the block. In the U.K. such an event would be called a “meter sale” by the way.  Anyway, my yard sale is always quite popular because I often have $100 golf shirts for $3, and I can be negotiated down to $2. During a break in my customers I hopped on my new mountain bike and rode to some of the other neighbor’s sales.  You know, to check out the competition.  There she was.  A marvelous thing of beauty.  A game changer.  The Ultimate Putting System With Electric Ball Return. Feast your eyes on this splendid item:

Intriguing

Most intriguing about The Ultimate Putting System is that the club shown on the packaging is not a putter.  Rather it looks to be roughly a 5-iron. The graphics indicate the ball traveling from the 5-iron straight into the hole. It looks as if the intended technique is to lay the 5-iron down on the back of the club head, and strike the ball with the toe of the club.  I will have to try that.

I also noticed that the 5-iron appears to have a hickory shaft. If I were to purchase The Ultimate Putting System I would have to visit the nearest golf store to try to find an old 5-iron with hickory shaft.

Negotiation Failed

In true garage sale fashion I tried not to act too interested when inquiring with my neighbor about the pricing. “Oh how much for this?” I inquired.  “One dollar,” replied the neighbor.  Now we all know to never accept the first quote at a yard sale.  It’s common knowledge. So I did what any decent negotiator would do and offered him fifty cents. Well I thought I was a master negotiator, but astonishingly my fair offer was not accepted.  Not being one to “give in” I acted as if I didn’t care much and told the neighbor, “well, I probably don’t need it anyway.”

So there went my opportunity to experience The Ultimate Putting System, at least assuming I would have been able to find a hickory shafted 5-iron to use with it.
