I quickly put a new poll in and cut the last one a little short. Michelle Wie is “taking on the men” (quote from TGC, not me) this week at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Will Michelle Wie make the cut? Vote in the poll now and we’ll see if the “pundits” are right Friday!

billionaretigerBogeyman has the scoop on this one so go read it at bogeylounge.tv.

In short golf digest has projected El Tigro’s earnings and he’ll have made a cool Billion (with a B) by 2010.

I think his personal wealth will reach that mark sooner than that if he’s investing what he already has wisely.

I knew I should have practiced golf more…

I shortened the last HOG Poll to get the new poll in this week.

The last poll question inquired about the strength of your game. Driving won out surprisingly. I thought driving was hard? And what about the “mental” game? NO votes!

What is the strongest part of your game?

Mental Game -> 0% (0 Votes) 0%

Short Game -> 21% (8 Votes) 21%

Irons -> 21% (8 Votes) 21%

Putting -> 24% (9 Votes) 24%

Driving -> 34% (13 Votes) 34%

I’d like to wish my dad a happy 69th birthday today, January 10th.

69 years old and he can blast my old Titleist 983K driver (hand me down) damn near as far as I hit my Ping G2!

Appleby wins at Apple-lua

Newsflash: Kapalua Golf Course has been renamed to “Apple-lua” after Stewart Appleby won his 3rd Mercedes Championship in a row. He’s going to have to build a new wing onto his house to store all the Mercedes cars he wins every January. Shall we just write him in next year too?

Other blogs are claiming this year’s PGA Tour has started with a ho-hum, boring start. I don’t think they are true golf fans. This was a truly great tournament and a very good “test” of the players’ skills. The greens were brutally fast and the winds were 20-40 miles per hour for 4 straight days. If that was ho-hum golf, perhaps those bloggers ought to blog about something else.

The finish was fun too. Appleby had to birdie the 663 yard 18th hole just to get into a playoff with Vijay Singh who posted -8 with a stellar round. Appleby then birdied the 18th again to win.

Now the question I’ve asked before: Can Appleby win some other tournament?
