I had to shorten my trip by a couple of days. The weather down in Eat’s area wasn’t looking good so I opted to go back home instead of driving 1300 miles round trip to play golf in the rain.
So unfortunately the blogger vs blogger vs blogger round of Mediaguru, Eatgolf and Luke Swilor will have to be postponed.
How much do you want to bet that now since I didn’t go visit Eat it won’t rain down there?
There may be different kinds of “Chicago” scoring systems but here’s an explanation of the one my group is playing on my trip right now.
We have 4 foursomes. In one foursome you start with 39 points for each player for a total of 156. You then take the total of the player’s handicaps and subtract that from 156. So for instance let’s say you have a 10, 15, 5 and 1 handicap. 10+15+5+1=31. 156-31=125. So 125 would be your group’s number.
On each hole you score as follows:
Bogey=1 point
Par=2 points
Birde=4 points
Eagle=8 points
So on the first hole let’s say you have a double, bogey, par and birdie. That’s 0+1+2+4 for 7 points. Your goal is to try to get as many points as possible. Yesterday’s winning team was -13.
Chicago scoring works very well for several groups and it makes every player’s score important so all players are into the game. And when you do them right, Chicago scoring ends up amazingly close among all the groups which makes it even more fun.
I’m going to pick Davis Love III as the winner of today’s final with Ogilvy. Hopefully he won’t have to kick anyone out of the gallery this time like he did a couple of years ago when he was in the final.
While I’ve been away from watching golf on TV I was amazed to see that Tiger, Phil, Toms and Singh had all been eliminated in the Accenture match play. Interesting.
It’s 11:18pm. We just got back from pizza night and gambling in Mesquite…. I’m tired so this is going to be short.
The golf was awesome today at Sunbrook. The weather was great but my game was not. I’m very rusty and I can’t hit an iron to save my life. My chipping is beyond terrible. Putting is great. Won many of my bets but not the Chicago (I’ll explain a Chicago later). The score was better today, but not good.
After golf we hit Mesquite where in the pic below you can see us all playing the Megabucks slot machine. The whole group put in $20 and everyone gets their turn. If it hit the jackpot, we’d all be splitting $15,000,000. Everyone was rubbing the machine for good luck but it didn’t work. We’re not millionaires. Then I got in trouble with the security guard who made me erase the pictures. I told him my battery died so I only erased about 2 of 15 pics.
Gotta get to sleep now. Need rest for day 4.
