This week Tiger Woods and the PGA Tour are at Aronomink for the AT&T National. Aronomink was designed by perhaps the most famous golf course designer of all time, Donald Ross. Donald Ross’ most famous course is Pinehurst #2. What a lot of people don’t know, is that Aronomink was Ross’ pride and joy or his “masterpiece” as he called it. In fact, there’s a plaque with a bust of Ross by the 1st hole which says “This is my masterpiece.” ”
Back in 1997 I played The Mink and I enjoyed it very much. I really like tree lined “traditional” style courses. The greens were quite undulating and challenging as well.
Digital photography was pretty bad as was my swing and my body shape back then. I have a gallery of Aronomink pictures, but they’re from the first digital still camera I owned. That camera was a whopping 1-megapixel and shot pretty bad shots.

In order to let you better get to know us, we have put together a few introductory questions about us and our game.
Last week I played a very frustrating, windy and cold round up the canyon. I pretty much lost my will to live when my score ballooned in the cold wind. I’m a 25 handicap if the temps are below 70 and a two handicap if they’re above 80. I was on my way to the car when I saw the Bridgestone tent down on the range. This was my first real opportunity to try a ball fitting and I felt like I needed to give it a try even though I was tired and my back was tight.
About Bridgestone ball fitting
When you get a ball fitting, the techs have you hit balls on their launch monitor. Bridgestone’s system shows you your club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, side spin RPM’s, spin in RPM’s and carry distance. Based on your swing speed they can recommend the best ball for you.
Seve Ballesteros’ doctors have advised him not to attend the British Open at St. Andrews in July. This is following a scheduled examination where it was determined that the physical and emotional strain on Seve would be too great.
I very much wanted to be at The Open in St Andrews next month to personally thank all the golf fans and friends who have given me their support, not only during these two years, when I have been recovering from my illness but also to thank them for the affection they have shown during my golf career.
I am aware that there might be people who have been preparing their trip to encourage and cheer me up. Hence, I do not want to disappoint anyone at the last minute and after listening to the doctors’ advice I have taken the difficult decision not to travel to St Andrews. ~Seve Ballesteros
