Tony on ZendrumSome may know I’m a professional musician. Along with playing the drums for about 38 years, I’ve been playing a unique instrument called a Zendrum for a few years.

I play in a very odd band called Zentherstick, which plays music as unique as the instruments we own. Here’s a shot of me playing last weekend at a western stampede on the 4th of July. Notice my Tattoo Golf shirt and my SUMI-G golf belt?

I must be the only person on this planet to wear a Tattoo Golf shirt, SUMI-G golf belt, and play Zendrum at a western stampede!

AT&T ratings TRIPLE with Tiger in the field versus last year

The Tiger Factor

Many people get tired of the golf media, announcers, TGC (Tiger is God Channel) and web sites constantly talking about Tiger Woods. But the fact is, Tiger is what 99% of the viewers want. When Tiger is playing, golf web traffic skyrockets and golf television rankings go through the roof.

Case in point

This year’s AT&T’s rating were three times as high this year with Tiger in the field over last year when Tiger was injured.

I personally love watching Tiger. I love watching the best golfer play golf, and history being made. Just like when Michael Jordan played, I watched even though the Bulls weren’t my team.

No matter who rises to challenge Tiger, be it Bob May, Anthony Kim, Chris Dimarco or Rocco Mediate, Tiger rises that much higher. It is truly amazing. No wonder the general public wants to see Tiger and no wonder the golf media gives them plenty.

Memo to all you beer drinking idiots who know nothing about golf, SHUT UP.

Tiger is 240 out hitting a 3-iron. He pulls it 40 yards left and over the gallery. Some idiot in the gallery yells at the top of his voice, “get in the hole.”

Phil Mickelson is in the US OPEN, hacking out of knee long rough, trying to get back to the fairway. “Get in the hole.”

Fred Couples hits a terrible 30 foot putt, pulling it 12 feet left. “Get in the hole.”

Anthony Kim (today) is in the deep left rough, just trying to hit the green. “Get in the hole.”

Memo to all you beer drinking idiots who know nothing about golf: SHUT THE F&*K UP.

Anyone else who is standing by these boneheads in the gallery, would you please join our cause and help us out by letting them know how stupid they are and that they should either shut up or leave? Please?

Tiger Woods vs Anthony Kim today. Should be fun.

With the 4th of July festivities yesterday I didn’t get a chance to watch all of yesterday’s AT&T National. I’m finishing off watching yesterday’s round on my DVR before today’s coverage starts.

By the way, today’s final round coverage of the AT&T National:

1:00 PM ET – 2:30 PM ET GOLF
3:00 PM ET – 6:30 PM ET CBS

I’m sure the media will be going nuts over the Woods/Kim match up. But they’re only one shot ahead so it is anybody’s game really. We’ll see if Kim can keep his aggressive style under control enough to give Tiger a run, or if Tiger will grind him down.

Amazing hole by Tiger yesterday

In Saturday’s round I saw an incredible set of shots from Tiger. On the 5th hole, which is 602 yards, Tiger hit a driver then iron combo to the green. That is 602 yards, driver – iron. INSANE. His drive was 367 and his 2nd shot was not only uphill but on an up slope too. Then Tiger plllowwwed the put in for eagle. Textbook.

My best friend played 36 at St. Andrews yesterday

I got some telephone updates yesterday from my best bud Al who was playing with my caddy connection Boynie, The Old Course at St. Andrews. They had a spectacular time. In the morning my bud played and Boynie caddied. In the afternoon Boynie hung up the caddy bib and threw on his clubs to play with my pal Al.

Al called me from the road hole. I actually felt bad because he was using a cell phone on the course but I was happy to hear from him. I felt like I was there. Connected to the course just a little. All my pal could say over and over was “you’ve got to come out here.”

I’ll be getting some surely great photos soon, which I’ll obviously post here.
