SUMI-G and my golf pal Marius (President) have received their first patent on their very innovative head covers. They didn’t specify in their press release if the patent was regarding the “mechanical enclosure” or the “rigid exoskeleton.” Either way congratulations are in order.

I use my SUMI-G head covers every round. I save myself a minimum of 14 times bending over per round, which certainly can’t hurt my bad back. The way I take them off and throw them on the ground before I hit my driver or fairways/hybrids has practically become a part of my pre-shot routine.

Tip of the hat to Payne Stewart, 10 years later

I wish I could have spent a few hours writing up a great tribute to Payne Stewart, one which would do him justice.

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of his death in that strange accident on that private plane.  I just spent a few minutes explaining to my lady who Payne Stewart was and darn near started crying as I showed her pictures of his fist pump and some youtube videos of him.  I was especially somber when I told her about his 1999 U.S. OPEN win when he beat Phil Mickelson, then cupped Phil’s face in his hands and told him “you’re going to be a father.”  Tissue please.  Wow.

It would have been so great for Payne’s life and career to continue, rather than ending so suddenly.  It would have been great to see how many more major championships he would have recorded in the last 10 years, and how many times he would have gone head to head with Tiger Woods.  I doubt he would have succumbed to that fear other players had when they play against TW.

Hats off to you Payne.  Thanks for the memories.

Tiger Woods awarded PGA of America player of the year

Tiger Woods has won the points based 2009 PGA of America player of the Year award.  He’s also won the Vardon Trophy and the Byron Nelson Award for having the lowest scoring average of 68.05.

The PGA Tour Player of the Year award has yet to be announced.  That one is determined by the players’ votes.  Hard to not pick Tiger for that award, though I’d like to see Steve Stricker as the recipient.

My home course is really getting anal detail oriented with marking yardages….

Me: “Hey Dave what is my inchage.”

Dave: “145 inches to the pin.”

Me: “Oh.  Thanks.  I have too much club.”

Dave: “Maybe, but it is uphill three inches and it is about a .00004 club wind.”

Bio-Health Jewelry

I’ve got a new secret weapon lately.  Nope it isn’t a new putter or new brand of golf ball.  The last 4-5 rounds I’ve played I’ve been wearing a BHPLUS magnetic health band from Bio-Health Jewelry.  The band (should I call it a bracelet?) promotes overall health and wellness via magnetism, far-infra red rays (FIR) and negative ions.  Hey man I’ll try anything to improve my game.

How it works

The far-infra red rays and negative ions (also known as ANIONS) penetrate the skin and cause an affect which some say promotes good health and well being.  The negative ions help to counteract all the “bad” positive energy and ions we receive from TV’s, cell phones, computers and the like.

For people with stiff areas of their bodies, FIR’s penetrate and provide an invisible heat action which promotes better circulation and relieves tension.

Brain and brain.  What is brain?

BHPLUS also increases alpha activity in the brain.  Increased alpha waves means higher concentration.  Higher concentration means more precision and execution of golf shots.

Wow.  All this from a bracelet band?  On the course…

Pros Pat Perez, Tommy Armour III and Rory Sabbatini wear BHPLUS bands of their own free will.  They’re not paid to do so.

I’ve been suffering from chronic golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow for years.  During the rounds I’ve been wearing my BHPLUS band I’ve had absolutely no pain at all.  Coincidence?  Not sure I want to find out.

I’ve also been putting lights out while wearing the band, and on really crappy greens.   Before my last two rounds I announced to my golf buddies opponents, that I’d let them off for a discount of the original bet on the first tee because they didn’t have a chance of winning as a result of my BHPLUS health band.  They declined both times and ended up losing more than 2x what I offered to start!  Ha ha.

Critiques

The Bio-Health Jewelry web site needs some work, both on the design side and the grammatical side.  One headline reads “Test results for BH.PLUS on brave waves.”  I think they meant “brain” waves. …

Conclusion

Does this technology really work or is it a placebo?  Is it just a coincidence that I’ve been pain free and played well while wearing my BHPLUS bracelet?  Who cares?  If I’m playing better and not hurting I’m going to keep wearing it. If only my unit had a skull on it, it would complete my golf wardrobe even better.
