Good news for Seve

Seve Ballesteros has now undergone his first round of chemotherapy and the results are “quite good.”

“Fortunately the results were quite good. This Friday I shall begin my second chemotherapy course, which I hope and wish will be as effective as the first one.

I am very motivated and working hard, although I am aware that my recovery will be slow and therefore I need to be patient and have a lot of determination. For these reasons I am following strictly all the indications that the doctors are giving me.”

I’m very happy to hear that Seve is progressing and getting better.

Looking for a golf course to play on FEB 1st in Orlando!

The snow and frozen tundra of Salt Lake have me down. Therefore I’m staying an extra day after the PGA Show so I can play golf. I need a course to play in Orlando the day after the show ends, Sunday February 1st. That happens to be Superbowl Sunday.

My new friend The Orlando Golf Blogger and I (and whoever else is interested in playing) plan on engaging in a friendly on-course golf blogger competition. Then I’ll jump in my limo (a cab) and head to the airport to fly back to the damn snow.

Contact me if you have suggestions on a decent course near the convention center, or better yet, can get me a tee time with Arnie at Bay Hill on Sunday February 1st!

HOG world tour preparing for the PGA Show in Orlando

I’ll be blogging live, or “blogcasting” at the PGA Show in Orlando next week! Boy am I getting excited.

The HOG private jet (a.k.a. Southwest flight 761 to Chicago, then flight 1856 from Chicago to Orlando) leaves next Wednesday.

For those who haven’t seen my blog coverage of previous shows, I do a lot of live posts, take hundreds of photos and do dozens of live video interviews.

Ping at the PGA Show

Ping will have a booth at the PGA Show for the first time in quite a while, as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. I’ll be checking out and reporting on everything I can at the Ping booth.

Titleist returns to the PGA Show

I have a few connections at Titleist and I’m told that not only will they be at the show, they will have a “considerable presence.” I’ll be covering their considerable presence, considerably.

Jesse Ortiz – Bobby Jones Golf

I’m already booked for some time with my good friend Jesse Ortiz of Bobby Jones Golf. Jesse is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met in the golf industry. Jesse provided me two great interviews last year on his new wedges and driver. In fact, those videos were used as promotional videos on the Bobby Jones web site for a while!

New game plan for this year’s PGA Show

I have a bit of a new game plan for this year’s show. I need more time on the actual show floor than I’ve had in previous years. In previous years I’ve spent as much as 1/3 of my time in the press room editing, writing, dumping images, editing videos etc. I plan on doing some very quick posts live, but spending the bulk of my production time in the press room or my hotel room after the show. I also have previously only allotted myself 2.x days of the show due to flying home the night of the 3rd day. I’ve booked a whole extra day and I’ll be at the show from start to finish, all three days.

Surprises

I also have some other ideas which are bouncing around my cranium. If the gears in my cerebral cortex get enough grease, I may be able to churn out some fun new items from this year’s show.

Edgewood Tahoe Course Review

Being from Salt Lake City, home of the 2002 Winter Olympics, I have no reason to go somewhere else to ski. I have the greatest snow on Earth and the best resorts 20 minutes from my house. Sorry Tahoe, but I’m calling Utah’s snow better. That being said, I have skied at Heavenly ski resort and at Squaw Valley, both of which provided me a great time.

Give me some summer sunshine and warm temps and I’m all over Tahoe. I’ve camped lakeside several times, and mountain biked the Tahoe resorts in the summer. There’s arguably no more beautiful place than Lake Tahoe in the summer, with the massive pine trees and deep blue water of the lake.

Having been to Tahoe more times than I can remember, there was always a picture in my head as I entered and as I left the south shore. I’ve always lusted at Edgewood Golf Course and wondered why on earth I never played there. I always have the wrong gear in town like tents and mountain bikes. No sticks.

Finally that lust has been satisfied, at least for a very short time.

Edgewood Tahoe Overview

Edgewood is a par 72, tree lined mountain course which tips out at the magical 7445 yards. Why magical? There’s one other course I can think of which has the same yardage: Augusta National, home of the Masters Tournament.
