This afternoon my buddy Tom Gov from Point1Golf and I played golf at Mystic Dunes.
We had some dinner following the round at a place that used to be called “Sam Snead’s.” The place was called “Sam’s” after apparently changing owners. There was still a bunch of old Sam Snead memorabilia on the walls but the hostess informed us all that stuff would be going down.
Tony & Tom trespass at Bay Hill
8:50pm, in the dead of night…. Using Tom’s cool handheld GPS for directions, we went on a trek following dinner. The destination was Bay Hill, Arnold Palmer’s course and the home of one of the great tournament traditions on the PGA Tour.
Below is a pic we shot with the timer on my camera on the famous 18th hole at Bay Hill. Remember, this is where Tiger Woods hit that amazing shot over the water? The camera was propped up on two of those new Zero Friction Tees Tom got at the PGA show.
Bay Hill 18 Trivia
Ever wonder how big the 18th at Bay Hill really is? It’s BIG. You could hit a lob wedge from one end to the next. I paced off the back fringe to the front fringe in the dark at 57 paces. 57 yards.
This will be the last post I make from Orlando. Tomorrow is a travel day so I’ll see you all on the other side…
