Tiger’s fang can’t take a bite out of Yang

“I did everything I needed to do today except get the ball in the hole.”

Tiger Woods

That about sums it up. Despite good ball striking, Tiger had 33 putts which isn’t good.

Y. E. Yang

I predicted a meltdown for someone in the last group today. I didn’t realize it would be Tiger, who shot 75. Y.E. Yang put on a ball striking clinic and displayed an incredible set of golf kahunas down the stretch.

The Shot

The approach shot Yang hit on the final hole was incredible.  His 3-hybrid from 200 yards nearly flew in the hole and finished within easy birdie range.  I never expected that quality shot and I almost fell out of my chair when he hit it.  Simply gosh yang amazing.

Frosty the snowman

Two major championship winners carded snowmen (8’s) on par threes today.  It was strange to watch Padraig Harrington and Angel Cabrera card 8’s on par threes.

Congratulations to Y.E. Yang for an incredible victory!

I feel compelled to send my kudos to TNT for their great PGA Championship coverage.

I sense an Emmy award coming soon for their detailed, innovative and in depth coverage of Tiger Woods’ empty parking spot.

Well done. Bravo. Bravo.

PGA Championship 3rd round comments

I had a pal come over yesterday to watch the end of the third round. After that we went out and hit a gigantic bucket of balls and then I was off for a leisurely Saturday evening. So I didn’t get the chance to chime in on the 3rd round of the PGA Championship.

Padraig Harrington is about the only player I give a chance to beating Tiger. The more I watch him the more I like him. I don’t think there’s a better player on this planet at hitting fairway woods. Unfortunately he didn’t post his score of -6 first, so YE Yang (also at -6) will be playing in the final group with Tiger.

YE Yang in the final group, last day of a major with Tiger Woods? Can you say nuclear meltdown? I don’t think he’ll be a factor.

Tiger Woods didn’t play all that well in the 3rd round. He certainly wasn’t firing on all cylinders and he wasn’t making a ton of putts. That being said, he somehow held the lead. And for the billionth time mentioned, Tiger doesn’t lose leads when he takes them into the final round of majors.

Will Padraig, Yang or someone else finally crack through and beat Tiger? The odds don’t say so, but they still have to play the game.

3:23PM ET

Don’t bother me. Round three of the PGA Championship is fully underway. I’ve been watching for 4.5 hours already, but Tiger just finished the 3rd hole. Tiger is paired with Vijay Singh today.

Tiger now is at -8 with a four shot lead, 5th tee.

Observation

Lee Westwood’s swing is a carbon copy of Natalie Gulbis’ swing. He has that same strange dip just after impact. It is sort of hard to watch.

In case you didn’t know it, you can catch a ton of extra live coverage of the PGA Championship at PGA.com. I’m watching Anthony Kim and Adam Scott right now.

It isn’t pretty for Adam Scott. He’s at +12.

Speaking of pretty (or not), I just saw my good friend John Kim (not related to Anthony, but he wishes) on PGA.com’s live coverage! I know a famous guy! John is in the middle of the image below.
