I’m now perched in my office on #16 green at the HP Byron Nelson.
I’m watching players fighting some wind today. Yesterday many players were able to reach this par-5 in two, but today is a different story.
I stopped by the big stage here at the Byron Nelson last night on my way to get some local Tex-Mex food. “Professor D” was performing in front of a nice crowd of patrons. There was some great talent not only on stage, but in the audience if you know what I mean. There’s a big grass area in front of the stage with tables, and around are vendors with food and frosty beverages. Fun times.
Tonight Jack Ingram (country) will be on stage and tomorrow night will be “Le Freak.”
If you have Tickets to the tournament, they’re good to get you into the concerts.
Like my title on this one? Greg Norman would love it, since he loves abbreviations.
A hip in jury has taken out John Daly on the 14th hole, 2nd round at the European Tour’s BMW PGA Championship. At the time of the withdraw, Daly was at +12.
Tough deal to fly all the way out there and have to WD. Daly is the 4th player to WD from from the BMW.
What a day. I’ve been all over the TPC Four Seasons and the property shooting photos, following players and floating between three of my media hubs. My three media hubs are the regular media center, a “war room” with my fellow HP Social Media Team, and the 16th green HP hospitality suite.
What’s the story today? There are many, most in my mind are of my personal experiences here as opposed to just the results of the tournament but I’ll start with the current results.
Jeff Overton leads after day one with a -6 64 (par 70). I just sat in on Overton’s presser and he said that his ball striking, especially driving has been very good lately. The course does setup for good driving and ball striking, and less bombing since there are only two par-5’s.
Kudos to Puma for snagging Rickie Fowler as one of their apparel staffers.
Judging from these kids wearing their Puma hats backwards, I’d say the next few years will be good for Puma.
