Greetings from 35,000 feet. As I write this I am on Delta flight D11 from London to Minneapolis. I’m coming home from the longest vacation I’ve had in years. For the last 15 days I’ve been experiencing Greece and a a few days in one of the world’s greatest cities, London. The longest break I’ve probably ever taken from blogging is 2-3 days so this was quite a departure for me. I did post three quick blogs but just small check-ins. Contrary to what I felt in many years of running this golf blog, the world did not come to an end if I took a break. The lights are still on. Golf is still there. My brain didn’t explode.
I hope this break not only refreshes my excitement and interest in writing about golf, but refreshes my interest in playing the game as well. I’d been playing quite a bit and getting a little burned out and frustrated with my lack of improvement. In parallel I’ve had the same bit of frustration and burn out with golf blogging. I’ve never lost the love for reviewing courses, gear and so forth, but my exposure to too much golf social media and the piles of manure (can you say “hot tour wives and girlfriends?”) out there have hardened my attitude a bit. That can be both good and bad.
I plan to continue my journey in the golf blogosphere and hope to change and morph as times and my perspective change. I’d like to shake some things up. Not sure how I will do that right now but figuring that out is part of the fun.
I’m home safe and sound after a fantastic time away.
Now back to our regularly scheduled blogram.
The big HOG World Tour vacation is currently in London. I did not bring my sticks on this trip, just my cameras. Enjoy this one…
My trip is coming to an end and I’m sad about that, but happy to be heading home in a couple of days and getting back to golf blogging!
Well there isn’t a more picturesque place in the world than the fabulous island of Santorini, Greece. This is a bucket list travel destination without a doubt.
The HOG World Tour spend a couple of days here on a photo safari. My shutter finger is quite sore now.
Despite the unrest here in Greece with their financial crisis, tourists can still enjoy a vacation so long as they stay away from the rallies and areas shut down in Athens.
My HOG World Tour vacation in Greece continues from the seaside village of my grandfather on the southeastern coast of Greece.
As you can see, the place is beautiful. I have a few more days here in Greece, then off to London to cap off the trip. Then back to the regularly scheduled blogram here.
A few have expressed concern for me while here in Greece during their financial crisis. Tourists for the most part are fine here and able to access money from ATM machines with no limit. No worries.
I’m on vacation in Greece.
No golf clubs, just my Nikon and the best hat scripting ever to hit Athens. Talk soon.
