Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant…
Hands down the BEST golf photo of 2014. Not sure how anything can top this the rest of the year.

The Hooked on Golf Blog World Tour is currently in Paradise Valley, Arizona, a few minutes from downtown Phoenix. Current stop on the tour is the wonderful Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain.
The suites here are very open and airy, quite a nice vibe. The property is very nice, with all the amenities, services, and great food one might need when looking for… a sanctuary.
I’ll be posting a full golf travel review of Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain soon, but for now you can click the photos or this link to the Sanctuary photo gallery.
The Hooked on Golf Blog World Tour and yours truly are heading for Scottsdale, Arizona today. I’ve been tasked by Hyundai Motors to come down and test out the new Genesis, their luxury sedan. They want to know what a die hard golfer thinks of the car. I certainly qualify and it sounds like a fun gig.
Hyundai Genesis
Naturally I can’t truly evaluate the vehicle as a golfer if I don’t actually use it as a means to carry myself and my sticks to and from the golf course and the 19th hole following the round. So a round at the famous Troon North Pinnacle course in Scottsdale is on the docket for tomorrow. Stoked. To top it off, I’ll be playing with none other than the Golf Blogger himself. John, you’re going down. Bring cash.
A couple of months ago I went through the whole shopping and buying process for a luxury vehicle. I ended up with a quite nice 2014 German-made vehicle. I have quite a high bar to compare the Genesis to as a result. I’m anxious to check it out.
Next blog post from Arizona. For more live and up to date content of this trip and the HOG World Tour, be sure to follow my two twitter feeds: @thegolfspace and @hoggolfblog. Also follow the hashtag #nextgenesis for mine and other media tweets about the Genesis.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., April 3, 2014 – Millions of golf fans will be adjusting their grip on the TV remote when DIRECTV’s newly enhanced Masters Experience debuts April 10 with live multi-screen, interactive coverage of the 2014 Masters Tournament.
DIRECTV will once again team up with CBS Sports and ESPN to provide fans with expanded coverage of golf’s most prestigious event, offering its exclusive six-screens-in-one Masters Mix channel and an interactive TV app that delivers every statistic, scorecard and tee time at the touch of a button. And new for the app this year: HD graphics with higher resolution for easier reading; player bios and head shots; and the ability to navigate app features while still viewing the full broadcast video.
The Masters Mix (channel 701) will display the main CBS Sports/ESPN feed (702); two “Featured Group” channels (703-704); “Amen Corner” (705), complete coverage of the most famous stretch of Augusta National; holes 15 and 16 (706); and “Masters in Depth” (707), along with a continuously running leader board featuring live tee times, scoring and leaders’ locations on the course. Each extra channel is fully produced with its own announcers. This year, the video cells on the Mix will dynamically update – from six to four to two – as bonus channels go off the air later in the day, for a better view of all the late-round play. The Masters Experience will be broadcast April 10-13 – Thursday and Friday from 3-7:30 p.m. ET, Saturday 3-7 p.m. ET, and Sunday 2-7 p.m. ET.

Sunice is a Canadian company which has been making performance golf and winter outerwear since 1976. Those many decades of experience in conditions from the 18th green to 18 degrees below zero culminate in a fantastic jacket called the Bollon, part of their “Tornado” series. I think they use the name Tornado because the jacket is so comfortable and waterproof, you’d be fine in a tornado. Let us take a closer look at this great jacket.
Construction/Technology
The Tornado Collection features “FlexVent” fabric. This fabric is proprietary to Sunice and combines lightweight with performance in a waterproof, breathable package.
Along with the waterproof fabric, guaranteed for FOUR years, the zippers are also waterproof. Pull-strings in the pockets allow the golfer to tighten the garment around the lower portion of the body to keep drafts and moisture from entering on the bottom. Photo below:
The sleeves feature a velcro tightening strap, as well as an elastic inner sleeve. This combination keeps the cold, wind, and weather from entering the sleeves.
Looks/Style
The cut of this jacket is very attractive. I particularly like how it accommodates sweaters, sweatshirts and inner layers yet still looks trim.
The lines of the zippers, pockets, and accents are classy and quiet.
On The Course
This past weekend the weather was a perfect test for the Tornado/Bollon. The winds were a solid 20mph, gusting up to 30+. There was some occasional rain to deal with, which due to the wind was falling sideways.
I tightened up the lining near the waist to keep the wind from creeping up the bottom of the jacket. A side benefit to that tightening was keeping the front of the jacket out of the way of my golf swing and especially my putting stroke. I use a short putter and bend over quite far. Sometimes bulky outerwear can snag the putter grip or get in the way of the putting stroke. This is not good, especially when you’re trying to bury your opponent and collect on a $2.00 nassau. Big pressure. Can’t have a garment messing that up.
I also tightened up the sleeves and zipped up the jacket all the way. Despite battening down the hatches I was still comfortable and able to swing freely.
Inside the left pocket I found a surprise. Included with the jacket is a small microfiber towel for cleaning golf balls. It is attached via a small buttoned strap. Very cool and convenient. Picture:
Bollon Sizes/Colors
The Bollon comes in two colors, black and white. Sizes range from small to XXXL.
Conclusion
Outerwear on the golf course is crucial. It needs to fit, keep you warm, keep out the elements, and most of all not interfere with the golf swing. The Sunice Bollon, part of the Tornado Collection, scores top marks across the board.
