Just about every big player in golf is in action this week on the PGA Tour.  Tiger Woods, who opted to do a google+ chat instead of facing the media this week, is in the field for one.

Questions

Wonder which game Tiger will bring? Will he contend or miss the cut?  Seems those are the two options.   Also in the field this week are Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlory, Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson.  McIlroy has missed two cuts in a row.  Will he find his game?  And what about Bubba?  He has taken about 1.5 months off after winning the Masters.  Bomber Dustin Johnson is also returning after he injured himself the week of the Masters lifting a jetski.  Doh!

I ran into Mike Weir on the driving range at one of my home courses last Monday.  After his 2nd round 83 in the Byron Nelson I wonder where his game will be.  Lots of missed cuts for Mike.  Will he find it this week?

It should be an interesting and entertaining weekend.

First Look: Pro-Advanced ReadyNet Golf Practice Net

I’ve been waiting for this setup for a LONG time.  No excuses now.  I can hit balls in the back yard and when it is cold I can hit balls in the garage with my new ReadyNet from Pro-Advanced.

I’ve just finished my first session with the net in the back yard (pictured).  No issues with balls flying out.  I’m tempted to rig the thing to fail though so I can pound a driver into the neighbor lady’s back yard in hopes that it will shut up her yelping little dog which is constantly barking 24/7.  A premium tour quality golf ball to the teeth might shut that little spastic ball of fur up…  I digress… (more…)

Here’s a first look at the Cardiff golf footwear model from Ashworth.  I’ve had my eyes on these babies for a while and I’m glad to be putting a pair (pictured) into play immediately for review here on Hooked On Golf Blog.

First Impression

My first impression is best covered by one word: comfort.  I just finished a practice session with the Cardiffs and they felt fabulous.  (more…)

Review: Quagmire Golf InReverse Polo – Two Shirts In One

Written by: Tony Korologos | Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

This review took an interesting turn as I started writing it.  In my reviews I always refer to the manufacturer’s web site for technical information about the product, sizes, colors, features etc.  It was at that point that I realized I’d only been getting half of what I could out of the InReverse golf polo by Quagmire Golf.  I didn’t even realize the shirt was reversible!

Quagmire Golf InReverse Polo

InReverse Overview

InReverse is a golf polo made from 100% polyester.  Love it.  Easy to care for. Resists wrinkling.

As stated in the name, the shirt is reversible.  One side is a plain color and the other side features an argyle pattern.

The fabric of the polo naturally wicks moisture, keeping the wearer dry.  That is becoming more and more important as the temps here in my home town will be reaching 90+ this weekend. (more…)

Fellow Golf Bloggers Turned Authors – Two New Golf Books You Should Read

Written by: Tony Korologos | Wednesday, May 30th, 2012
Categories: Golf Books

I’ve got two good friends in the golf blogging world who have recently authored golf books.  How cool is that?  The time and effort it takes to write a book must be huge and I tip my hat to my buddies Neil Sagebiel at Armchair Golf Blog and John Retzer at Golf Blogger.  I’ve known both of these gentlemen for years and they are the real deal.

The Five Inch Course

The Five Inch Course

John Retzer’s book is titled The Five Inch Course: Thinking Your Way To Better Golf.  Via the previous link or by clicking the image to the right you can purchase it through Amazon.  I have an e-copy of this book and I’ll be plowing through it very soon for a review here on HOG.

I know I’m capable of playing good golf, but my brain gets in the way.  Hope John’s book can help.

With Father’s Day coming up, this would be a good gift idea.

The Longest Shot

The Longest Shot

Neil Sagebiel’s book is titled The Longest Shot: Jack Fleck, Ben Hogan, and Pro Golf’s Greatest Upset at the 1955 U.S. Open.  Click the previous link or the image right to purchase on Amazon.  Neil’s book was released this past week.  The timing is perfect for this subject as the U.S. Open is returning to Olympic Club where Fleck upset Ben Hogan 57 years ago.

I can’t wait to read this one.  As soon as I do I’ll post a review here on HOG as well.

Once again, another great Father’s Day golf gift.

Congratulations

Congratulations to my two friends on the accomplishments!  I’m very impressed.  You must be very proud.  Perhaps we can do a little interview about the books?

Well played!
