HOG Lab Golf Ball Overload?

golf ballsI’ve got a lot of gear to review and the snow here on the ground, and thus the closed courses, is causing me some headaches.  That’s one fantastic reason to get the heck out of town and head down south to southern Utah and Mesquite, NV to get some rounds in tomorrow (Sunday).

It is the time of year when golf companies are introducing their new products and in the last couple of weeks I’ve received many golf ball submissions for review, as you can see by the photo.  I’m intrigued by the new Bridgestone dual dimple balls, the Wilson Duo, the new Srixon Zstar SL and the new TaylorMade TP5 and TP3.

I’ve got 81 holes of golf booked down south starting tomorrow at 1:06.  It will be tough to choose which of these balls to try out.  Perhaps for starters I’ll try one model per nine.

HOG World Tour Confirmed For Masters

I’ve just completed booking my flights for attending the Monday and Tuesday practice rounds at The Masters next month. It has been two years since I’ve been, and I’ve been aching to get back to the grounds at Augusta National. There is a top secret gig in the works which may extend my stay at Augusta through Thursday or Friday. Stay tuned on that.

Spring in Utah. Weather determines whether we golf or ski.

Now is the time of year here in northern Utah where the weather isn’t exactly sure what it is doing. 7 days ago I played golf and most of the courses in the Salt Lake area were open.

Snow

One foot of snow this morning...

Certainly no courses are open now, based on the one foot of snow in the front yard this morning.  Time to bust out the long boards and the Longboards and hit the ski slopes.

Colorful Supplemental Kentwool Tour Sock Review

I’ve already posted a Kentwool Tour sock review previously.  This is a quick supplemental lightning review, covering a few new colors to my wardrobe.

Kentwool Tour Golf Socks

Four great colors of Kentwools... click to zoom

New to the wardrobe are the four hot colors above. As apparel challenged as I am, I’m was struggling with finding matching threads in my wardrobe.  I finally decided that if I were to wear a color like the pink above, it doesn’t really matter if it matches.  It takes a set of golf balls to wear pink anyway so who cares?  One fun idea I had is to mix the sock colors, courtesy of the workout lady at the gym I see every day who wears two different sock colors.  All of the colors above mix and match well.  My golf buddies might make fun of me, but if they’re not wearing Kentwools I guarantee they’re not as comfortable as I am.

Speaking of the gym, these socks are not only great for golf but for working out, walking or running.  The cushion the Kentwools provide on higher impact activities like running or hiking is fantastic.

Washing

When talking to Kentwool at the PGA Show this year, I was interested to hear that they don’t necessarily recommend washing the socks after every wearing.  They say the socks are best washed after several uses. Keep that in mind.
