Nike Sport Cart Golf Bag
Last month (November 2010) Nike released the new Nike Sport Cart Bag. I’ve had one in play now for a couple of months and I’ve enjoyed using it. I can be quite a critic of golf bags because there’s not a piece of gear which gets used and abused as much as the bag itself. If they’re poorly made or designed in a way which makes golfing harder rather than easier, that bag is going the way of the junk pile.
Sport Cart Bag Overview
This bag is designed for golfers who prefer to use some mode of wheeled transportation for themselves and/or their bags on the golf course. Those modes may include push carts, pull carts or riding carts.
The top of the bag is designed in such a way that the clubs organize well in two directions, making club access easy for vertically mounted orientation or slanted mounts like those on push/pull carts (trolleys in the UK, aye?).
Women have all the fun when it comes to golf accessorizing. In fact, I think some women enjoy accessorizing more than they do actually playing golf. Take these Sydney Love Women’s Golf Handbags below. They’re imprinted with a golf shoe pattern so they look cool and fun, but they’re also very well made and useful. To view bigger images, go to my Sydney Love Gallery or click the images to go to their Amazon pages.
The Sydney Love Golf Satchel Sydney Love Golf Satchel (right) is a fun and functional large handbag.
The bag features a zip pocket on one side and an outer pocket on the other side, as well as a detachable lady golf shoe keychain (not pictured). By the way, the green heart shown above I do not believe comes with this purse. I may be wrong on that. But I just attached it for fun…
The inside of this bag has one large zippered pocket for loose items, as well as two pockets with no zippers (cell phones, iPods etc).
The Sydney Love Golf Cosmetic Bag/Ball Holder (right) has a front zippered pocket on one side and the top is zippered as well.
This bag is designed for cosmetics, but works great for golf balls too. For me, it would be good for putting iPods, iPhones, headphones and adapters inside.
There is also one zippered pocket on the inside of this bag.
Sydney Love Across The Body Bag
Finally there’s the Across The Body Bag (right). This bag has two front zipper pockets with golf ball zipper pulls, and one back zipper pocket with the same golf ball zipper pulls.
The liner of this bag (and the other bags for that matter) is the standard Sydney Love polka dot fabric, green background with lighter dots.
Inside this bag are two pockets for cell phones or accessories, plus a zippered pocket.
FORRRRE! – Card Game for Golfers is a fun card game which is coming in handy right now for me. I’d rather be playing golf, but since there’s snow on the ground and more is falling I’m out of luck.
Forrre is a game which can be played by 2-5 players and includes cards for standard golf scores (birdies, pars etc), but also has some wildcard types of cards for mixing up play a bit. For instance you can steal an opponent’s card with the Gopher card, block an opponent from posting a score with the Shankin It card etc.
Though not real golf, the FORRRE! golf card game beats sitting inside, staring out the window and waiting for the snow to melt.
I’ve now had a little time to decompress from the high I had on my trip to Los Cabos, Mexico a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been processing hundreds of photos and gathering my thoughts about this spectacular trip and the amazing resort I stayed in, the One&Only Palmilla.
One&Only Palmilla Overview
The Palmilla is located in Los Cabos, Mexico, on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula. A few minutes away is Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula is about 1000 miles (1.5 hours by air) south of San Diego, California and looks out over the Sea of Cortez. That should give you an idea of how great the weather is in Los Cabos, any time of year. The “worst” time of year, if there is one, the temps are in the mid 70’s.
The property is located on a spectacular 250 acre beach area and features 173 rooms and suites which all overlook the beautiful blue Sea of Cortez. The 250 acres is part of a larger 900 acre master-planned community which also includes eight residential communities and the resort’s 27 hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, Palmilla Golf Club.
If the best beach in Cabo, and 27 holes of Jack Nicklaus golf isn’t enough, the resort boasts fine dining, numerous pools, a spa, local area activities and a wine cellar in which I almost locked my self and threw away the key.
17 Hole Finale
One way to break the course record would be to leave off a hole. In the South African Open today, they cut the course to 17 holes because the par-3 fourth hole was water logged.
In order to avoid a stats nightmare, they gave everyone in the tournament a default par on that hole rather than leaving it off the scorecard. So do they give all players a green-in-regulation and two-putt in their stats too?
Els Wins
Ernie Els held off Retief Goosen to win his 5th South African Open title by one shot.
How’s this for some good golf? Els turned in rounds of 65-65-67-66 to record a total score of 25 under par. Perhaps they need to toughen up Durban Country Club a bit?
