Coming back from a commercial break in the Buick Championship an announcer gets a kiss from a lady and doesn’t know his microphone was on. Sounds like it was Gary McCord.

Review: Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa

Ojo LogoSometimes being a golf blogger can really suck.  I should quit.  How bad is it to have to go to a fine resort for three days, eat great food, bathe in four different types of hot mineral springs and get massages?  Bad bad bad.  I guess I’d better at least finish this review of Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa before I submit my resignation.

About Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs

Location

Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is located in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico, about 50 miles outside of Santa Fe.  The nearest decent airport is 111 miles away in Albuquerque.

History

The waters at Ojo have been a haven for many different peoples, from the ancestors of Native American Tewa Indian tribes, to the Spaniards in the 1500’s, to golf bloggers in 2009.  There’s much more detailed history, sans the golf blogger part, here.

Four different mineral springs

Ojo Caliente has the distinction of being the only hot springs on our planet with four distinct types of mineral water:  iron, lithium, soda and arsenic.

There are 10 different pools, some private, filled with these varying waters or combinations of them.  The pool temperatures range from 80-109 degrees F.

Did my own club regrips. Hope I get to use them soon.

Well my back is healing, albeit much slower than usual.  This last tweak of my scoliosis was extrememely painful and has lasted way too long.  I’ve now gone a full two weeks without playing golf, which is about the equivalent of President Obama going two sentences without saying the word “change.”  In other words, a long time.

I’m on the road to recovery, but the back reminds me that it still is in charge with the occasional shock which can practically bring me to my knees.

I did some research and got some pointers from two golf pals on club re-gripping.  So I went out and bought all the materials and a vice.  I already had grips from Lamkin and a couple of other companies which were sent in for review.

They’re all drying right now and I hope to test them out in the next couple of days.

I’ll do a post soon on club re-gripping, assuming I did them right and they won’t fly apart during my gimpy swings.
