Nickent changes from a dot com to a dot net? WTF?

Nickent Golf has a new URL.  They were at but now they’re at Change your bookmarks!

This is a bit odd

“Dot net” domains can be used for anything, fine.  But typically they’re for companies who provide internet services.  A “dot com” is much more popular than a “dot net.”

This makes me wonder really.   If the core name is the same and they’re just changing from a dot com to a dot net, what transpired to make them change?  Did they forget to renew the dot com domain or did someone else own it? Did they have a difference of opinion with a web developer and the developer owned the domain?  Strange stuff.
