Direct-Response Television Campaign Launches Marketing Efforts

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Bobby Jones Golf Company has commenced sales for its first ever lineup of wedges, the Bobby Jones – Pelz Wedge Collection by Jesse Ortiz. Continuing its pace as one of the most progressive, dynamic golf equipment manufacturers in the world, the company is launching a direct-response television campaign on The Golf Channel. The 30-minute advertising program – which follows the success of the company’s inaugural campaign to promote its award-winning Hybrid – begins airing at 12:30 p.m. EST on Friday, April 25.

Ortiz joined forces with golf’s short-game guru Dave Pelz to develop the wedges. The duo will serve as centerpieces of the clubs’ marketing program, which also includes electronic outreach, retail relationship management and public relations.

“It is an honor to become part of the Bobby Jones legend by working with golf’s most ingenious designer, Jesse Ortiz,” said Pelz. “His passion for the game, and for improving performance on the course, has once again resulted in a finely crafted set of clubs.”

In the month of April, prior to the clubs’ release, over 2,000 Bobby Jones Wedges were reserved by golfers looking to become the first to take advantage of the new technology. The company expects the new wedges to experience success similar to that of its Jesse Ortiz Hybrid, which increased 2007 annual revenues five-fold.

The Bobby Jones – Pelz Wedge Collection by Jesse Ortiz includes the 52-degree Gap Wedge (available with four-degree bounce), the 56-degree Sand Wedge (available with 10-degree or 14-degree bounce), the 60-degree Lob Wedge (available with a 4-degree or 8-degree bounce), and the 64-degree Extra-lofted X Wedge (available with 4-degree bounce). Custom lengths and lies are available at no additional cost. Custom sole grinding options are available upon request, and are produced directly within the Jesse Ortiz Design Studio in Hayward, Calif.
